Licorice is widely distributed in northern China because of its dry and cold-resistant growth habits. Licorice is very medicinal, so it is still selling well in the market, which leads to many people want to grow it. Then between planting, it is necessary to have an in-depth understanding of it.

Planting technique of licorice

1. Seed treatment. Physical methods can use coarse sand or rice mill to grind the seed coat to make it rough and increase water permeability, or soak the seeds in 45 ℃ warm water for 10 hours before sowing. In the chemical method, the seeds can be mixed with 1 part of concentrated sulfuric acid and 1.5 parts of seeds, mix evenly, rinse with clean water, dry and sow.

2. Live broadcast of licorice. As a perennial herb, licorice can be planted in spring, summer and autumn, but according to the investigation of several licorice planting bases in China, the yield and quality in spring are better, so it is suggested to sow in spring as much as possible. Mechanical or manual sowing can be used, using strip sowing, sowing depth of 2-3 cm, appropriate suppression after sowing. The sowing rate of direct seeding should be determined according to the growing period of licorice: if it is harvested in 2 years, the sowing density should be high, generally about 4 kg per mu; if it is harvested in 3-4 years, the sowing density should not be too large, generally 1-1.5 kg per mu.

3. Raising seedlings and transplanting. Sowing seeds around the middle of April when the daily average temperature is stable above 5 ℃. Mechanical or manual sowing can be used, using strip sowing, sowing depth of 2 cm to 3 cm, row spacing of 30 cm. Appropriate suppression after the broadcast. The sowing rate per mu is about 12 kg. Seedling transplanting is generally carried out in the spring of the second year. When transplanting, open the ditch, tilt licorice (45 °angle) into the ditch, and then cover the soil to suppress. This is beneficial to the growth and development of rhizomes and the convenience of mining.

Licorice planting time

Licorice this traditional Chinese medicine, especially for cough treatment effect is more significant, at present, the wild is less, mainly artificial planting is more, its sowing time is more extensive, spring, summer and autumn can be sown in three seasons, but also more flexible.

Of course, not every place can be divided into three seasons for sowing. In general, because the climate is cold in the north, there are only two seasons for sowing in spring and autumn, while those in the south with better climatic conditions can sow seeds in three seasons.

Planting method of licorice

1. Fine soil preparation: the land planted with licorice had better be ploughed once in the autumn of the previous year, and the tillage depth was not less than 35cm. Before sowing in spring, combined with the application of farm manure, the soil preparation should be deeply ploughed once, and it should be arranged into a small plot of land of 2 Mu and 3 mu. Plots that are too large must be leveled before sowing.

2. Seed selection. Select the seeds of Glycyrrhiza uralensis with plump, uniform, moth-free, purity of more than 90% and 1000-grain weight of about 10-12 grams.

3. Sow seeds. The suitable germination temperature of licorice seeds is 20: 25 ℃. Generally, licorice seeds can be sown from late April to early August, especially from late April to mid-May. Licorice sown after June has less material accumulation and poor overwintering ability. The seeding amount of licorice under strip sowing is 340kg / mu. Ensure that the seedlings of Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch are above 30,000 plants / mu in the following year.

Field management of licorice

1. Fertilization: 25kg / mu of diammonium phosphate was applied before seedling germination in spring in the second and third year. And trench application in the row side 10 cm deep, ditch depth of 15 cm, cover soil after fertilization.

2. Irrigation: in the sowing year, irrigation was carried out for 3 times, usually 85 cubic meters per mu. The first irrigation was carried out about one month after emergence, and then once every other month. Overwintering water was applied in the middle of October, and the irrigation times could be gradually reduced in the second, third and fourth years.

3. Interseedling: when licorice seedlings grow to 15 cm high, the distance between seedlings is 15 cm, and about 20,000 seedlings are preserved per mu.

4. Intermediate ploughing and weeding: in the sowing year, intertillage is generally ploughed for 4 times, and then the number of intertillage can be appropriately reduced, combined with intertillage to mainly eliminate dodder and other field weeds.

5. Seed collection: if seeds must be collected year after year when artificial planting is adopted, large and full seeds can be obtained by removing the flowers and fruits near the branch tip during the flowering and podding period. The seed collection should be in the pod when the seed changes from green to brown, that is, the middle stage of setting grain size is the best, when the hard seed rate is low, the treatment is simple, and the emergence rate is high. The time of seed collection should not be early, otherwise the germination rate of seeds will be affected after sowing, resulting in lack of seedlings and broken ridges.

Licorice is planted for more time, and there is a difference between the south and the north. We need to pay more attention to it. Its planting method is relatively simple, after planting, need very strong field management skills, so as to ensure its growth and survival rate, so as to increase economic income.
