Speaking of Ophiopogon, I believe we are more familiar with it! Because Ophiopogon is a common medicine in our life, it has a good effect on the prevention and treatment of some diseases. So do you know how Ophiopogon is planted? Let's get to know it with the editor.

Planting techniques of Ophiopogon japonicus

1. Seedling preparation and treatment. Ophiopogon japonicus is propagated by separate plants. Before and after the Qingming Festival in Sichuan, from the Beginning of Summer to Grain in Beard in Zhejiang Province, when digging Ophiopogon japonicus, the dark green and robust plants were selected, the tuberous roots and fibrous roots were chopped off, divided into individual plants, and the residual whisker roots were cut off. Cut off part of the stem base (with white heart on the cross section of the rhizome, leaves do not spread as the degree), plant immediately. If it cannot be planted in time, it is necessary to "raise seedlings". Soak the stem base of the seedlings in clear water so that they can absorb enough water, then stand on the dug loose soil in the shade, and cover the soil around for preservation. If the temperature is too high, you can water it once a day or every other day. The time of raising seedlings is no more than 7 days.

2. Planting. Sichuan in April and Zhejiang in May, choose sunny or cloudy days. Sichuan is planted with trench strips, with a row spacing of about 15 cm and a depth of about 5 cm. First apply thin pig manure water in the ditch, and then plant seedlings according to the plant spacing of 6-9 cm, 3 plants in each clump, and cover the soil after planting, so that the seedlings stand upright and firm, so that the seedlings are straight and straight. Zhejiang adopts hole planting, hole depth is 3-5 cm, row spacing is 25 cm, plant spacing is 15 cm, and 9-10 seedlings are planted in each hole. Cover without base, compacted.

Field management of Ophiopogon japonicus

1. Weeding in middle ploughing: Ophiopogon japonicus is a fibrous root plant, which needs to loosen the soil and strictly prevent hardening. From planting to planing, watering or rain, weeds should be loosened and weeded timely. From May to July, weeds will grow quickly and grow vigorously. Weeds should be immediately combined with loosening soil, which is easy to be shallow, so as to avoid root damage, and keep the land free of weeds throughout the growing period.

2. Timely topdressing: Ophiopogon japonicus has a long growing period and needs a large amount of fertilizer, generally starting from May every year, combined with loose soil topdressing for 3-4 times, mainly farm manure, combined with a small amount of compound fertilizer.

3. Reasonable drainage and irrigation: after planting, Ophiopogon often keep the soil moist to facilitate seedling emergence. From July to August, irrigation can be used to cool down and protect roots, but it is not suitable for stagnant water, so it should be drained in time after irrigation and rain.

Pest control

The main disease of Ophiopogon japonicus is black spot, which is serious in rainy season. Control methods: select robust and disease-free plants as seeds, soak them in Bordeaux solution for 5 minutes before planting; remove stagnant water in time in the rainy season to reduce field humidity; at the initial stage of the disease, sprinkle 100 kg of plant ash per mu when the dew is not dry in the early morning; during the onset of the disease, spray 1VRV 100 Bordeaux solution or 65% Daimen zinc 500 times solution, once every 10 days, 3-4 times continuously.

The main pest of Ophiopogon japonicus is root-knot nematode. Control methods: rotation with Gramineae crops, previous or intercropping crops do not select root vegetables such as sweet potatoes, beans, potatoes, etc.; combined with land preparation, 20% methyl isosphos emulsion or 5% granules 250-300 grams per mu, made into poisonous soil scattered in the border ditch, turned into the soil, can control nematodes. Grubs occur from August to September and can be sprayed with 200 times of 90% trichlorfon.

Growth characteristics

Like warm and humid climate, the annual average temperature of Ophiopogon japonicus in Sichuan and Zhejiang provinces is between 16 and 17 ℃, and the annual rainfall is more than 1000 mm. The cold-tolerant plants with low temperature of-10 ℃ in winter will not be damaged by freezing, but the growth and development of the plants will be inhibited and the root growth will be affected. Although the roots can grow well in the mountain areas with low annual temperature or in North China, the roots are smaller and less. Should be slightly shaded, in the strong sun, the leaves yellowing, harmful to growth and development. However, if it is too shaded, it is easy to cause the overgrowth of the aboveground part, which is also disadvantageous to the growth and development. Drought and waterlogging have significant adverse effects on the growth and development of Ophiopogon japonicus. Loam and sandy loam with loose, fertile and well drained soil, over-sand and over-sticky soil are not suitable for the cultivation of Ophiopogon japonicus. Avoid continuous cropping for 3 years or more. It takes 3 to 4 years before replanting.

As mentioned above, Ophiopogon has a wide range of uses, especially some processed health care products on the market are loved and sought after by consumers, the economic value is extremely high, the benefit and prospect of planting Ophiopogon is still good!
