Ryegrass is a widely distributed plant, which can often be seen in wetlands. Ryegrass has a wide range of uses, generally for cattle and sheep. Now many places have specially planted this kind of grass for animal husbandry, because of its high yield, it is the first choice for many breeders.

Planting method of ryegrass

1. Ryegrass soil preparation and fertilization. Ryegrass has small seeds, slender seedlings and weak top soil strength. Ryegrass planting land should deeply turn loose and rake, crush soil blocks, level the ground, store water and preserve soil moisture, so as to create good soil conditions for ryegrass seed emergence. Combined with ploughing, sufficient base fertilizer is applied according to soil fertility. Generally, 1000-1500 kg of organic fertilizer or 25-30 kg of compound fertilizer are applied per mu.

2. Sowing methods: there are three sowing methods of forage grass: strip sowing, on-demand sowing and sowing, generally dominated by strip sowing, supplemented by on-demand and sowing. Strip sowing: the soil ready for use will be sown with 1.5-2 meters, with row spacing of 20-30 cm, sowing area of 5 cm, sowing rate of 1.2-1.5 kg per mu, covering soil of about 1 cm, and watering thoroughly. Sporadic plots are carried out by the method of on-demand seeding, which is as follows: sowing according to the distance of the pond 15 × 15 cm, sowing at a rate of about 1 kg per mu (8-12 seeds per hole), covering about 1 cm of soil and watering through water.

When will ryegrass be planted

The optimum germination temperature of ryegrass seeds was above 13 ℃, and the seedlings could grow well when the seedlings were above 10 ℃. Therefore, the sowing time of ryegrass is longer, which can be sowed both in autumn and spring. The autumn sowing of ryegrass is generally available from mid-September to early November, mainly depending on the previous crops. If the special feed, it can be sown early in order to make full use of the favorable weather in September and October and strive to increase the yield of ryegrass.

Matters needing attention in the cultivation of ryegrass

1. Sowing quality: fine soil preparation and adequate base fertilizer should be applied before sowing. Generally, 500ml 750 kg of mature human feces and urine and 15kg of N, P and K three-element compound fertilizer should be used as base fertilizer per mu. When sowing, the soil should not accumulate water, nor should it be too dry, otherwise it will affect germination. If the soil is too dry, the water of the horse should be irrigated to wet the soil before sowing, and the fields with serious stagnant water should be ditched and drained. Single-cropping rice fields or idle fields are generally dominated by strip sowing, with a row spacing of 20cm and a sowing depth of about 2cm. The double-cropping rice fields should be sown 7 / 10 days before harvest. Before sowing, mix the seeds well with river mud before sowing, and then gently hit the rice plant with a small bamboo pole after sowing, so that all the ryegrass seeds scattered on the rice plant enter the ground. It is better to use 1.5 kg of seed per mu, and those with poor seed quality can appropriately increase the amount of seed used to promote the accumulation of seedlings.

2. Seedling stage management: after emergence, the seedlings should be fertilized once with 400 kilograms of rotten rare human feces and 500 kilograms of urine plus 5 kilograms of urea to promote the rapid growth of seedlings. In addition, after each cut, 5 kilograms of urea should be used to apply topdressing. Generally, the height of the seedling can be cut to 40 cm, and it can be cut 5 times in the lifetime, but the seedling should not be cut more than 2 times, otherwise the yield of the seedling will be seriously affected.

Harvest and utilization of ryegrass

The grass can be cut for the first time 40-50 days after sowing. No matter whether the growth is good or bad, it must be harvested. The stubble of the first harvest should not be less than one inch. After that, the grass should be harvested every 20-30 days, and the stubble should not be less than one inch. At the same time, according to the actual situation, it can be reserved for harvest at jointing stage. The first crop of grass should be cut early to promote tillering. The grass used for feeding livestock can be used for silage.

When sowing ryegrass, we need to grasp the two critical periods of spring and autumn. Ryegrass needs to be located before planting, and then fertilized land, ryegrass is not resistant to stagnant water, so drainage should be done in place. Only in this way can the survival rate of ryegrass be ensured.
