On October 23, in the vegetable planting base of Ankang Alpine Ecological Cooperative in Huyuan Township, Shaxian County, Fujian Province, more than 100 mu of "Mingjiao 7" pepper trees were fruitful.
"Mingjiao 7" is a "high spicy" pepper selected by the vegetable Research Institute of the Municipal Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and it is also the first spicy mid-early hybrid pepper variety in China. It is known as the "devil pepper" in China. The spiciness test of Taiwan Pepper Plant Museum showed that Mingjiao 7 was 42-470000 Scoville.
In May this year, "Devil Pepper" was planted in four places in the city, and only Huyuan Township was successful. this is also the first large-scale planting of "Devil Pepper" in Sanming City and achieved success. Under the careful guidance of agricultural technicians and the fine management of cooperatives, "Devil Pepper" is growing happily in Huyuan Township, with a yield of more than 3500 kilograms per mu.
According to grower Deng Chunguang, Mingjiao 7 is suitable for growing in cool places above 700 or 800 meters above sea level; if it is too hot, it will not hang fruit or the yield is very low; the harvest period is usually from June to November.
Since June, Ankang Cooperative has introduced "Devil Pepper" to the market through wholesale. "this kind of pepper is mainly sold to Fuzhou, Nanping, Sanming and other provincial cities. it is best to wholesale more than 20,000 kilograms at a time, with a wholesale price of nearly 16 yuan per kilogram." Deng Chunguang said.
