Velvet needle succulent is a kind of succulent, its shape is relatively small, but the whole body with thorns, the general body is green, in the top edge distribution of a layer of red. It grows best in a warm environment, and many people like to raise it at home, but when breeding, it still needs to pay attention to a lot of places.

How to raise succulent velvet needles

1. Change the basin every early spring. When the plant grows too high, pruning or coring is carried out to depress the plant type, and the top branches cut off are used for cutting propagation. When the light is sufficient and the temperature difference is large in spring and autumn, the leaf color will turn red. Can be cultivated by hydroponics, cut 10-15 cm long branches in spring, insert them in water or sand, take root for 2-3 weeks and then transfer them to glass bottles for culture.

2. Watering: watering once a week during the growing period, and every 2-3 weeks at other times.

3. Basin soil: the basin soil remains dry when it is dormant at high temperature in summer and semi-dormant in winter.

4. Fertilization: fertilize once a month, use diluted cake fertilizer or "Huiyou" 15-15-30 special fertilizer for potted flowers, no fertilization in winter.

The method of succulent culture of velvet needles

1. Light management: cashmere needles prefer sunshine, long-term lack of sufficient light will lead to overgrowth. The daily color is green, and the color will change slowly with the increase of sunshine time and temperature difference. All-day sunshine is available outside Xinjiang in the spring and autumn season.

2. Fertilizer and water management: cashmere has little demand for water, and too much water is easy to breed diseases and waterlogging. Watering during the growing period is generally dry and thoroughly watered, and the basin soil is kept dry in winter. Summer high temperature dormancy, pay attention to reduce watering, winter can continue to grow. Fertilization is usually done every two months during the spring and autumn growth period.

3. Soil requirements: succulent plant cashmere needle pot soil can generally use the mixture of peat, vermiculite and perlite, or the mixture of peat and coarse sand; watering during the growing period is generally dry and thoroughly, keeping the potted soil dry in winter, and fertilization is generally applied every two months.

Matters needing attention for fleshy needles

1. Maintenance of cashmere needle during high temperature dormancy period in summer. There is a high temperature throughout the country in summer, and the cashmere needle is in a dormant period at this time, so it is not suitable for more watering or fertilization to prevent the cashmere needle from waterlogging and decay.

2. Matters needing attention for low temperature maintenance of cashmere needle in winter. Cashmere needle slightly cold-resistant, should pay attention to anti-freezing cold in winter, the temperature below 5 ℃ can be given appropriate measures to keep warm, plus shields and so on. When the velvet needle is frozen, it will lose its leaves, which makes it very distressing.

The breeding method of succulent Cashmere Needle

1. Cutting. Velvet needles are very easy to grow in groups, and cutting is its main mode of reproduction. Cut the robust branches at the top of the plant, wait for the wound to dry and insert it into the slightly damp potted soil, waiting for it to take root.

2. Leaf cutting. The first thing to pay attention to when inserting cashmere needles is to get the complete leaves so as not to hurt the growing points on the leaves. The growing point of cashmere needle leaf is the middle point. The velvet needle blade is very tough and not easy to break. When breaking, you should pay attention to it, close to the axilla of the leaf, and slowly break along the arc of the joint. This method has a high success rate.

3. Ramet. In addition to branch and leaf cuttings, cashmere needles can also split. The survival rate of ramets was higher than that of branch and leaf cuttings. Cashmere needle growth is strong, very easy to explode the shed, grow full, covering your small basin. At this time, you can trim and cut out the shape you want. Some seedlings can also be found at the root of the plant. Pull up the seedlings, plant them in a pot, and they will survive. Note that the newly planted seedlings should be watered every 3 to 4 days to prevent the roots from being soaked by water.

4. Beheading. The reproduction of succulent plants is often inseparable from a name that is very bloody and violent, that is, beheading. Long velvet needles and slightly defective velvet needles can be beheaded to make the plant look better. Beheading cuttings, wait for the wound to dry, insert it into the basin, water it every 3 to 4 days, and wait for rooting.

The culture technology of velvet needle succulent is generally carried out from the aspects of light, soil, fertilizer and water, etc. It is not resistant to high temperature, so we must strengthen protective measures in summer and do not water it too much. The lowest temperature in winter should not exceed 5 ℃, so some measures should be taken to protect it during this period.
