Many flower growers want to put a sunflower at home, its planting method is very simple, the growth cycle is not very long, so it does not need too much time to take care of it. But the sunflower grows around the sun, so it has a high demand for water. Next, the editor introduces the watering method of sunflowers.

Watering method of sunflower

Sunflowers in the open field

1. When sowing: whether you plant seeds or seedlings, such as soil, water the soil in time to ensure that the soil is moist.

2. From sowing to budding: during this period, it is more tolerant to drought and does not require much water. And the relatively dry environment is beneficial to the growth of roots.

3. Budding stage: control watering. During this period, the plant is tall, the leaves are luxuriant, and the water consumption is large, so it should be watered in time. Especially under the conditions of high temperature and strong light, supplementary watering is needed to prevent the leaves from wilting and affecting the growth. What's more, it is necessary to prevent the plant from being too dry and replenish a lot of water.

Sunflowers cultivated in open field have more developed root system, cold tolerance and relatively less water demand. There is no need for too much watering in spring. with the increase of temperature in summer, water evaporates quickly and supplementary watering is needed.

Second, potted ornamental sunflowers

1. Sowing and transplanting: keep the soil moderately moist at this time. Keep the basin soil moist and provide sufficient water at the seedling stage. If the temperature is above 25 ℃ in summer, it is necessary to increase the amount of water or times of watering.

2. Growth period: watering in time to avoid leaf dehydration and wilting. But do not water too much at one time, the basin soil is too wet will make the leaves yellow. The long-term watering of Jianyinsheng uses the soaking pot method: put the whole flowerpot into a pot full of water, let the water not exceed 2/3 of the flowerpot, soak in the pot for 15-20 minutes, so that the soil is more wet.

Potted sunflowers, with relatively small plants and flowers, do not bear sunflower seeds, and are characterized by a large pot and small size.

How to fertilize sunflowers

1. Base fertilizer

Species: give priority to organic fertilizer and use less chemical fertilizer as much as possible.

Fertilization period and method: families do not need agricultural planting in short, usually mix fertilizer evenly in the soil a few seconds before planting. Or dig a few holes 2-3 cm deep around the plant after planting and apply fertilizer to it.

Fertilizer dosage: 5-10g organic fertilizer per plant, if the plant is larger, the amount can be increased appropriately.

2. Planting fertilizer

Objective: to strengthen the seedlings and apply them in time after the seeds germinate. Mainly choose calcium phosphate to add a small amount of uremia.

Usage: sprinkle fertilizer on the surface of potted soil 3-5 days after seed germination. Or apply 2-3 cm next to the seed. Combine sowing to apply organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer 2-3 cm under the seed, or 2-3 cm next to the seed.

3. Topdressing

Species: nitrogen fertilizer is the main fertilizer, potash fertilizer is the auxiliary fertilizer. You can choose urea, potassium chloride and other expensive or mature human feces and urine, plant ash and so on.

Time: according to the plant growth, soil conditions, the application of base fertilizer, reasonable topdressing. But topdressing is mainly concentrated in the period from budding to flowering of sunflowers.

Method: fertilize the small pit 10-15 cm away from the sunflower. Pay attention to the depth of fertilization, avoid direct contact with the root system, should be applied in the wet water layer, which is conducive to fertilizer efficiency.

4. Foliar fertilizer spraying

The foliar fertilizer of sunflower is mainly sprayed after budding. Spraying zinc, copper, manganese and molybdenum solution after budding, and spraying nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium solution after flowering can make the flowers bright and bright green.

Management of four growth stages of Sunflower

1. Seedling stage

The stage from emergence to budding is called seedling stage. In this stage, the growth of the aboveground part of the sunflower is relatively slow, and the underground root part grows faster, which is the stage of the strongest drought resistance of the sunflower.

At this stage, water is watered about once a week and fertilized once a month to ensure adequate sunshine.

2. Budding stage

The budding stage is the most exuberant stage in the sunflower's life. During this period, sunflowers need the most fertilizer and water, if this stage can not meet the needs of sunflowers for water and fertilizer, it will seriously affect the yield of sunflowers.

3. Flowering period

Flowering stage means that the disk opens from ligulate flowers to tubular flowers. At this stage, the sowing date of sunflowers should be adjusted, fertilizing and watering should be selected at an appropriate time, diseases and insect pests should be controlled, and bee release or artificial pollination should be adopted to improve the seed setting rate of sunflowers.

4. Mature period

There are differences among different sunflower varieties at this stage. About 15 days after flowering and pollination is the stage of grain formation. During this period, it is best to place it in an environment with clear weather and large diurnal liquid temperature difference and maintain proper soil moisture.

When does the sunflower bloom?

Sunflowers are also called sunflowers. Generally speaking, if sunflowers are sown in April, the flowering period is from July to August, and the seed maturity is from August to September.

However, when raising sunflowers, we can take ways to make them blossom all the year round, which requires accumulated temperature. Basically, plants can blossom when they accumulate a certain temperature in the process of growth.

There are still many varieties of sunflowers, if flower friends only have flowers planted for ornamental purposes, the editor suggests choosing small ornamental sunflowers. However, large varieties can bear seeds and eat, and their seeds have high economic value in the market.
