I believe we are all very familiar with perilla, not only with beautiful leaves, but also with high medicinal and edible value. Perilla can not only make the food more delicious but also remove the fishy smell. It is loved by everyone. Many people like to raise a pot of perilla at home. Let's introduce some planting techniques of perilla.

How to plant perilla

1. Perilla likes a warm and humid environment, and the lower reaches of the Yangtze River is more suitable for sowing in April, and family potted plants generally choose the method of direct seeding.

2. Choose a container of about 20 cm, 8 parts of cooked vegetable garden soil, 1 part of mature organic fertilizer, 0. 5%. Five parts of compound fertilizer were mixed with a small amount of calcium superphosphate.

3. Sow a hole in the container, sow 3 seeds, then cover the soil, water it and wait for seedlings to emerge.

4. After emergence, if the soil is hardened, the soil should be loosened, and the seedlings should be fixed in about 35 days.

Perilla planting method

1. Put appropriate amount of perilla seeds in a plastic cup (of course, you can also use other containers) and soak the seeds in clean water for about 4 hours.

2. Use the time of soaking seeds to prepare the flowerpot and the soil. The flowerpot should be about 20 cm in diameter. There must be drainage holes at the bottom. The soil can use 8 parts of cooked vegetable garden soil, 1 part of mature organic fertilizer, 0. 5%. 5 parts of compound fertilizer and a small amount of superphosphate are mixed.

3. Put the mixed soil into a flowerpot, smooth the surface, spread the soaked seeds evenly on the soil surface, and then spread a thin layer of fine soil, the thickness of this layer of fine soil can slightly cover the seeds, not too thick.

4. Use a cloth of the right size and can absorb water, soak it with water and cover it with fine soil. Spray water 6 to 8 times a day to keep it moist. It will germinate in about 12 days. Remove the wet cloth in time after germination.

5. Next, we should pay attention to spray some water every day to maintain the soil moisture, but also pay attention to maintain good light, about 26 days of growth can be planted in pots.

6. the flowerpots and soil used for planting in separate pots are the same as when raising seedlings. Select relatively strong seedlings and plant one plant in each flowerpot. Remember to water once after planting. Water must be watered thoroughly for the first time, so that it is easier to survive.

7. Next, as long as you pay attention to watering and lighting, perilla can thrive. Keep in mind that although perilla is heat-resistant, it should also pay attention to proper sunshade in hot weather.

Matters needing attention in perilla planting

1. Summer is the most exuberant period for the growth of perilla, at this time, there should be sufficient water, and quick-acting fertilizer should be applied 2 to 3 times, combined with foliar nutrient solution.

2. Perilla is eaten by picking tender leaves, as long as the leaves grow to a certain size, and remove the tip of flower bud differentiation at any time, so that it does not blossom and maintain the exuberant growth of stems and leaves.

3. If your potted perilla is just for viewing, part of the stems and leaves should be removed properly to reduce the nutrient consumption of stems and leaves.

4. The common diseases of perilla in cultivation are powdery mildew or rust, which can be controlled by Xiansheng 800x liquid and Shigao 1500 times liquid.

Disease Control of Perilla frutescens

Spot blight usually occurs from June to harvest, harming the growth of perilla.

At the beginning, brown or dark brown spots with different sizes and shapes appeared on the leaf surface, and then developed into large round or polygonal spots with a diameter of 0.2 mi 2.5 cm.

The disease spot is not obvious on the purple leaf, but it is more obvious on the green leaf. After drying up, the disease spot often forms a cavity. When the disease spot is serious, the disease spot converges and the leaf falls.

Prevention and control methods:

When selecting seeds, choose from disease-free plants. Pay attention to the drainage of the soil to avoid planting too dense.

At the beginning of the disease, spray with 80% wettable Zinc 80O solution, or 1 Bordeaux solution with 1 rime and 200 Bordeaux. Spray 2-3 times every 7 days. However, spraying should be stopped half a month before harvest to ensure that herbs are free of pesticides.

As mentioned above, perilla is very easy to grow, you can plant it on the balcony or courtyard with any pot. If you want to eat, pick a few leaves directly and cook them. It is both fresh and convenient, while the perilla leaves are particularly beautiful and can be used as ornamental plants.
