Last Updated: 2024/11/05, African jasmine heard this name and thought it was a plant produced abroad! In fact, it is a kind of ornamental flower variety originated by my aunt. After hearing the name, African jasmine thought it was a kind of plant produced abroad. In fact, it is not. It is an ornamental flower variety produced in Guyuan. The leaves are evergreen all the year round and blossom in spring and summer every year, and the flowers are usually white. Now many people like to raise it, but if they want it to grow luxuriantly, breeding methods are indispensable.

Propagation methods of African jasmine

1. Sowing and breeding method: collect ripe fruits from October to December (buy directly), remove the seeds, sow them on loose and fertile sandy soil, cover the soil with a thickness of 2 to 3 cm, cover them with fresh-keeping film and keep warm, or store the seeds in the crack of the seeds to show white before sowing. The seeds sown at the end of autumn and the beginning of winter will not emerge until next spring. After emergence, the fresh-keeping film will be removed in time to strengthen the management of water and fertilizer.

2. The method of split-plant reproduction: from March to April, when the plant just began to germinate, the clump-shaped plant was removed from the flowerpot, shaking off part of the persistent soil, and at the place where the root system was weak, it was cut open with a sharp knife, so that each clump had at least 2 or 3 stems and some intact roots, and potted them respectively. This is very convenient, but in the process of ramet, try to avoid too many wounds on the root system, so as not to affect the future growth.

3. Striping propagation: striping propagation is usually used in planting, but the potted flowerpot is big enough but it can be dropped. In April, the middle and lower parts of the 2-to 3-year-old strong branches sprouting at the base were annularly peeled or scratched, then pressed directly into the soil and rooting after 40-50 days. From July to August, it was separated from the mother plant and replanted in pot.

Cutting methods of African jasmine

1. Cutting time: cuttage can be carried out from the end of April to October, but it is best to cut in the Meiyu period from May to June. Rain Water is more, the air humidity is high, the temperature is between 25 ℃ and 28 ℃, and the temperature difference between day and night is large, so it can achieve better rooting effect.

2. The choice of cuttings: cuttings must choose semi-mature branches that are one or two years old, stout, thick and green leaves, and free from diseases and insect pests. The ear is 12 to 15 cm long, with 3 to 4 whole leaves, the lower incision is preferably 0.5 cm below the node, and the lower end of the cuttings is cut into a bevel. The experimental results show that the survival rate of top cuttage is higher than that of base cuttage.

3. The density and method of cutting: the density of cutting is appropriate when the leaves are in contact with each other. When cutting, punch holes in the substrate with bamboo chopsticks, then slowly cut them down until they reach the leaves. It is easy to dry up if they are left too long. After inserting, use your fingers to firm the basin soil, and then water it.

How to fertilize African jasmine

1. It is necessary to apply thin fertilizer and apply more fertilizer, which can avoid harming the health of plants when there is more fertilization. at the same time, the application of thin fertilizer can also make the plant grow healthily at different stages. April to August, is the florescence, can increase the amount of fertilization, about once every half a month.

2. When the summer temperature is higher than 35 degrees, the plant will stop growing, so it is necessary to suspend fertilization, and the best growth temperature is between 18 and 32 degrees. In the growing period, it is also necessary to increase the amount of fertilization, about 13 to 16 days once.

3. In winter, fertilization should also be suspended when the temperature is low, and the lowest temperature in winter should not be lower than 3 degrees. If the environment is below 0 degrees for a long time, it will affect its health, and the lowest temperature to keep out the cold in winter is about 5 degrees.

How to water African jasmine

1. Summer: keep the soil moist in summer, watering when it is slightly dry, and spray water to plants and their periphery in the morning and evening, one is to lower the temperature, the other is to increase humidity.

2. Winter: keep the soil slightly moist in winter, and spray water on the surface and periphery of the plant at noon. The room is relatively dry in winter, which can increase the humidity. The time of watering in winter is also best chosen at noon.

There are many propagation methods of African jasmine, such as sowing, plant division, striping, cutting and so on. And cutting propagation is the most used, but we can choose a suitable method according to our own needs. After breeding, we also need to strengthen the management of fertilizer and water, so as to ensure its survival rate.
