Brown bamboo is a traditional excellent potted foliage plant in China, which is very suitable for potted plants. Brown bamboo has a special shape and unique shape, and its ornamental value is very high. If you can put such a bonsai at home, it is not only a beautiful enjoyment, but also a small expert in purifying the air. But for potted plants, the most important thing is to master its watering method.

How to water brown bamboo

1. Watering frequency

Brown bamboo grows rapidly, has more leaves and needs more water. In the growth period to ensure sufficient water, keep the basin soil relatively moist, do not seriously lack water, or appear basin soil dry crack situation. Once the root is damaged, it will take a long time to recover. Generally 2-3 days to pour clear water, each basin about 2-3 kilograms, so that the water fully soaked the basin soil, not stagnant water.

2. Spray water

The transpiration of brown bamboo leaves is strong, so we should pay attention to replenish water in time in the high temperature season in summer and windy weather in spring and winter. Can properly spray water to the leaf surface, evenly wet all the leaves, with water droplets dripping down is appropriate. And improve the air humidity around potted brown bamboo to prevent dry weather from damaging leaves, spraying water at least 2-3 times a day.

In a word, brown bamboo should be watered more during the growing period from May to September, keep the soil moist, rather wet than dry, but do not accumulate water or it is easy to rot the roots.

Causes of yellowing of brown bamboo leaves and its solutions

1. the light is too strong

If the light is too strong, the water in the leaves will soon evaporate, and the leaves will turn yellow and the tips of the leaves will dry up.

Solution: Brown bamboo like shade, put brown bamboo in a bright place to maintain, any corner of the living room can, try to avoid direct sunlight. For the yellowing leaves caused by excessive light, the yellowing part can be cut off, and after the plant grows new leaves, the whole leaf will be cut off, which will not affect the ornamental.

2. The soil is alkaline.

Brown bamboo likes to grow in slightly acidic soil, and its leaves turn yellow when the soil becomes alkaline. In addition, when the plant does not change the soil for a long time, there is a lack of nutrients in the soil, or even soil hardening, the growth of new roots is difficult, the absorptive capacity of brown bamboo weakens, the growth becomes worse, the leaf will appear scorched edge.

Solution: change the basin for 2-3 years, and replace part of the new soil when changing the basin to ensure that the soil always has enough nutrients to supply the growth of the plant. In the maintenance, you can occasionally pour a little diluted vinegar or lemonade, the concentration should be low, under the premise of not polluting the soil, change the acidity and basicity of the soil. For the leaves that have turned yellow, some will slowly recover after the soil turns sour.

3. Improper watering

Too much or too little watering affects the respiration of the plant, resulting in yellowing of the leaves. Of course, when the air is too dry, the leaves will slowly turn yellow, especially the varieties with finer leaves.

Solution: it is necessary to control watering, not too dry and no stagnant water. It is best for the basin soil to be wet without sticking to its hands. Usually spray more water to ensure enough air humidity, if the humidity in the home can reach the humidity of the bathroom, brown bamboo will be raised very well. Spray water frequently and ventilate in time when the water is large.

4. Improper fertilization

If there is no fertilization or concentrated fertilizer for a long time, the root will be damaged and the absorptive capacity will be weakened. Many people think that more fat will be good, but in fact, the more fat, the higher the concentration, then it will become bad, then the roots will be burned, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: fertilize properly and apply thin liquid fertilizer once every 15-20 days during the growing period. It doesn't matter if the concentration is a little lower. Fertilization time as far as possible in the evening, the next morning appropriate watering, dilute the residual fertilizer in the basin soil. When watering the fertilizer solution, do not touch the leaves to avoid burns.

How to apply fertilizer to brown bamboo

1. Apply basic fertilizer well

Brown bamboo potted plants are generally changed every two years. During this period, base fertilizer is very important to ensure that there are enough nutrients in the potted soil to supply the growth of brown bamboo. When changing the basin every year, add cake fertilizer to the soil, stir well, or add a certain amount of slow-release fertilizer. If the base fertilizer is well applied, the fertilization cycle can be properly prolonged in the future maintenance process.

2. Fertilization frequency

It is generally required to apply fertilizer, root or grain fertilizer once every 15-20 days. Foliar fertilizer is sprayed once every 10-15 days, and the two methods are used alternately.

3. Fertilization method

According to the principle of applying a small amount of fertilizer for many times and applying thin fertilizer frequently, we choose organic fertilizer and efficient phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and supplement trace elements appropriately. 15-20 days, suitable for one-time corrosion of cake fertilizer or rapeseed cake fertilizer, 20-30g per basin, a small amount of ferrous sulfate 5g.

It can also spray 800 times flower special organic humic acid active liquid fertilizer solution every 10-15 days to spray all leaves evenly, so that it is appropriate to start dripping water.

Matters needing attention in changing pots of brown bamboo

1. Placement position

Brown bamboo can be placed in the bathroom with windows to ensure sufficient humidity and timely ventilation, as long as the light is bright and does not need sunlight. After 2-3 days, the brown bamboo should be moved to the living room with stable environment for maintenance, increase humidity and sprinkle water frequently.

2. Observe the humidity of basin soil.

You can try it with your fingers and insert your hands into the soil. The soil is wet but the fingers basically do not touch the soil or touch a small amount of soil. This humidity almost meets the requirements of the soil moisture after the basin has been moved.

3. Multi-spray shearing blade

When spraying, the sprinkler sprays from the middle of the plant to the outside to reduce the water falling into the basin soil; if vermiculite is not mixed in the soil, it does not matter when spraying water.

4. Pruning

After changing the pot, the plant will wilt to a certain extent. if the situation is still deteriorating after changing the basin, it is recommended to cut off some of the leaves, or cut the lower leaves short, and then cut off these short leaves completely after the new leaves grow out, so as not to affect the ornamental effect.

Brown bamboo likes a warm, humid and semi-shady growth environment, and the demand for water during the growth period is also relatively large, but brown bamboo is not resistant to stagnant water, so it is only necessary to keep the wetness of the basin soil. Too much or too little watering can cause plant problems.
