Hippophae rhamnoides is suitable for growing in an environment with a temperature of 20 °C to 30 °C. it needs sufficient light and should be given longer sunshine time. Firethorn is more hardy and can easily survive the winter. if the environmental temperature of the growth of firethorn in winter is too high, it will affect the flowering and fruiting of firethorn in the second year.

Hippophae rhamnoides has lower requirements on soil, but in order to grow and develop well, sandy soil with deeper soil layer, loose soil and good drainage should be selected for planting. Usually, we can apply some nitrogen fertilizer regularly to promote the growth of Hippophae rhamnoides branches and leaves, and when the flowering season is approaching, we can apply some phosphate and potash fertilizer to promote the prosperity of flowering and fruit ripening. There is no need to fertilize in winter to keep the firethorn dormant.

Hippophae rhamnoides is very drought-resistant, but the soil is easy to dry in winter and can be watered properly. The soil can be made dry during flowering, which is good for the fruit of Pyracantha. Pay attention to drainage if there is a rainy season during flowering. After the fruit is harvested and before entering the hibernating period, it is necessary to irrigate enough water to survive the winter, and then no more watering during the hibernating period.

Hippophae rhamnoides is generally propagated by seed propagation and cutting.

When we plant firethorn, we should pay attention to guard against the diseases and insect pests of firethorn. If the firethorn is planted in a poorly ventilated environment, it will be easy to catch fungi and cause diseases such as powdery mildew, leaf spot, rust, and so on, so we should keep ventilated and give sufficient light to the firethorn plants. when the disease occurs, it is treated with chlorothalonil and other medicine solution in time. Aphids are easy to occur in spring, and Pyracantha is also prone to pear crown net bugs and other insect pests. We should detect them as soon as possible and apply relevant agents to kill pests as soon as possible.

Attention should also be paid to pruning branches with too many buds when flowering is approaching.
