Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Many plants need to be treated with coring, because only in this way can the growth of lateral branches be revealed, and the whole plant will grow fuller. Of course, some plants, such as sunflowers, do not need to pick the heart, but it is necessary to welcome spring, but what do we need to pay attention to? What is the specific time and method? How on earth should we deal with it? Today, let's answer these questions one by one.

1. Time

Because it will grow new branches, so in order to prevent the branches from being too long, of course, apart from this reason, it is also because its flowers are larger and bloom in the new branches, while the old branches rarely blossom. So we need to pick the heart two or three times between May and July. If the coring is too early, it may affect the development of the root system, may make the seedlings weak, and some of the later growth will also be affected. Therefore, it is better to be a little later and let it grow fully, not too early. If the heart is picked too early, the flower seedling has four or five true leaves, and its exuberant growth has just begun. at this time, if we pick the heart too early, it will be a serious blow to the flower that has just begun its own growth path.

2. Methods

The object of heart-picking is overgrown branches or useless branches, both of which are unnecessary, because they will not only lead to the unbeautiful shape of plants, but also affect the flowering and fruiting of other branches.

Each time the heart is removed, only two pairs of buds can be left at the base of the new branch. For those plants that thrive, they can no longer pick their hearts after July. Plants that are thin and not strong do not need to pick their hearts so often.

In addition, after the spring flowers have withered, we need to cut off the withered branches, diseased roots and overcrowded branches from the base, so that nutrients will be gathered together, so that the shape of the plants will look good and the whole will be cleaner.

Winter coring treatment is not appropriate, if you want to prune the whole plant, but also according to its habits, not all woody plants are suitable for winter pruning. For example, spring blossoms in spring, but winter is not very suitable for pruning. Pruning will cut off some bud branches, and the effect of flowers blooming in spring will not be very good.
