Ivy is a climbing shrub plant, which is often seen in daily life, and is a very ornamental plant. When people cultivate ivy, the longest method is soil culture. In fact, ivy can also be cultivated by hydroponics. However, in the process of breeding, there are also many places that need to be paid attention to.

How to cultivate ivy in hydroponic culture

1. Temperature it prefers a warm environment, and the most suitable environment is 20 to 25 degrees. It can't stand muggy heat, and it has a strong tolerance to cold, so we can put it in the room and give it some ventilation in summer, while in winter we should keep its temperature above ten degrees and not let it fall below five degrees.

2. Light it likes light better, but it can also tolerate shade. So we can consider putting it in a semi-cool place, so that its internodes will be shorter, the leaves will grow more consistent, and the colors will be brighter. In spring and autumn, we can still let it see the sun in the morning and evening, and then choose to put it in a shady place for a period of time, so as to prevent the strong light and sunburn. And it can make it grow exuberantly.

Methods and matters needing attention in hydroponic culture of ivy

I. hydroponic method

1. Water-cultured ivy had better use branch water to root, so that the root is not only good-looking, but also will not have the phenomenon of root injury when washing roots. Select the twigs of ivy that have aerial roots, insert them into a prepared transparent container, and water roots can take place in about 10 days. There should not be too much water in the container, and some roots need to be kept in the air.

2. In the initial stage of hydroponics, attention should be paid to changing water frequently, preferably once a day or two, so as to ensure the cleanliness of the water body and prevent the lower end of branches from rotting. In about 10 days, ivy will grow white and tender and take root. After the new roots grow, you should also change the water frequently. After about 2 or 3 weeks, hydroponic ivy will show a lush growth trend.

3. During the process of hydroponic ivy rooting, do not give light. Put hydroponic ivy in astigmatism or shade at the right temperature, not too hot or too cold. Wait for the root to grow out, then gradually give light. Ivy is a shade-tolerant plant, avoid strong light, so when water culture ivy, as long as scattered light.

2. points for attention:

Hydroponic ivy should avoid direct sunlight in summer and pay attention to ventilation and cooling. It is best to keep the room temperature above 10 ℃ in winter in the north, and the branches and leaves can be sprayed and washed with water close to room temperature every other time to improve the air humidity and keep the leaves clean and green.

How does hydroponic ivy take root quickly

1. At the beginning, you can't give it too much light. If you let it be completely black in the first day or two, its roots will grow very fast and will grow out in less than ten days.

2. After that, we can give it the scattered light, and we must remember not to give it strong light, because it itself does not like strong light. This is a big trick to grow roots quickly, and you can try it.

Common diseases of ivy and their control

1. Epidemic disease. At the initial stage of the disease, spray or irrigate 25% metalaxyl wettable powder 800 times or 58% metalaxyl. Manganese zinc wettable powder 600 times liquid, there are many choices, go to the market to buy.

2. Grey mold. Remove the diseased leaves in time and burn them. When you get sick, spray 75% chlorothalonil 500 times. Once every 10 days for 2 or 3 consecutive times.

3. Leaf spot. At the initial stage of the disease, 3000 times of streptomycin sulfate or 12% green copper EC and 20% Longke bacteria suspension were sprayed.

In fact, the method of hydroponic culture of ivy is not difficult, but we must do a good job of disinfection, and the water quality of hydroponic culture also needs to be clean, so as to ensure the growth of ivy. If you want it to grow fast in hydroponics, you can appropriately reduce the light.
