Phalaenopsis must be no stranger to it, its ornamental value is very high, mainly with flowers as the viewing point, its flowers are changeable in color, and bloom like beautiful butterflies, so it has the origin of the name. Now there are many people who cultivate Phalaenopsis, but in the process of breeding, fertilization and reproduction are very important, so it is necessary to master skills.

Propagation methods of Phalaenopsis

1. Pedicel budding propagation method: first cut off the post-flowering part of the pedicel, and then carefully use a blade to remove the bracts from the first to the third internodes of the pedicel, exposing the bud points in the internodes; evenly apply hormones such as sprouting agent or indolebutyric acid with cotton swabs on the exposed Internode bud points After smearing, put the plant in a semi-shaded place and maintain the cultivation temperature of 25-28 ℃. Generally, after 2-3 weeks, the bud can grow leaves, and after 3 months, it can grow into Phalaenopsis seedlings with 3-4 leaves and aerial roots. finally, cut off the seedlings and get a new plant after pot treatment.

2. The method of heart-breaking and sprouting propagation: first remove the heart leaf with the highest position at the top of the stem, pay attention to destroying the growth point on the stem tip, so that it can no longer grow upward; after the wound is dried, it can be sterilized and sterilized with fungicides. After a period of time, 2-3 new buds can sprout on the stem nodes near the base. When the new bud grows and the base grows out of the root, it can be cut off and planted, and a new plant can be obtained.

How to fertilize Phalaenopsis

1. In the peak growth period of Phalaenopsis, low concentration of water and fertilizer should be applied, thin fertilizer should be applied more and more, and fertilization should be stopped when the temperature is above 32 ℃ or below 15 ℃.

Before February and July, root fertilizer and extra-root topdressing should be applied interchangeably, the general compound fertilizer of nitrogen: phosphorus: potassium (1:1:1) should be applied once, and the root should be irrigated properly with 2000 times liquid. Liquid fertilizer is applied every 15 days in August. The external root fertilizer of 0.1% concentration of potassium dihydrogen phosphate was applied after September.

After March and October, water and fertilizer should be controlled to promote the formation of flower buds. During this period, root phosphorus and potassium fertilizers are the main fertilizers, and trace fertilizers (boron, iron, zinc, etc.) are properly applied.

The leaves of Phalaenopsis turn yellow and soft.

1. Temperature: Phalaenopsis requires high temperature. The best temperature for its growth is 18-28 ℃. It is not resistant to high temperature and cold. Higher than 32 ℃ and less than 15 ℃ will affect the growth of Phalaenopsis. Therefore, more attention should be paid in summer and winter to ensure that it grows in a suitable environment.

2. Lighting: Phalaenopsis likes semi-shaded environment and likes to scatter light. Strong light or long-term exposure to dark environment will affect the photosynthesis of Phalaenopsis, making the leaves yellow and soft.

3, diseases and insect pests: red spiders, shell insects and other pests will also cause Phalaenopsis leaves yellowing and softening. At ordinary times, we should ensure the circulation of air, clean up the dead branches and rotten leaves in time, and observe the surrounding environment of plants to ensure the cleanliness of growth. When there are few pests in the initial stage, you can use a soft brush to wipe off the foliar bugs, or you can spray insecticides to get rid of them.

What about the rotten roots of Phalaenopsis?

1. First, the potted soil should be dug out of the flowerpot and scattered, the roots of the plant should be washed with clean water, then all the rotten roots should be cut off, and the intact parts should be preserved as much as possible, and the residual roots may also be saved.

2. Soak the cut and the remaining roots in 2% potassium permanganate solution for about 10 minutes, then dry them, and then carefully smear them with plant ash at the cut, then the plant can be re-poted.

3. The basin soil must be disinfected. The simple way is to pour the basin soil thoroughly with boiling water and use it again after it is cooled. When putting on the basin, pat the rhizome, pour the water thoroughly and place it in the shade, cover it with a film and cultivate it at a temperature of about 20 ℃. After about 20 days, new roots can grow.

Phalaenopsis propagation methods are generally pedicel budding and heart-breaking budding is more common, we can choose the appropriate time to carry out. After breeding, we need to strengthen management, fertilization must pay attention to time, different time fertilization methods are not the same. If there are yellow leaves or rotten roots, find out the problem from the root, and then solve it thoroughly.
