Select fresh and ripe pineapple, cut off the crown at the top of the pineapple, tear off the leaves under the crown, let their bottom reveal the naked stems around 4cm, put the treated crown in a cool and ventilated place for 1-2 days to promote wound drying and healing, prepare a cup with water after the wound is dried, then put the crown into the cup and place it in a warm and ventilated place for maintenance When the root system of leaf crown grows to 2-5cm, it can be converted into soil culture and daily maintenance can be strengthened.

Pineapple tastes sweet and is loved by many consumers. in addition to large-scale planting, pineapple can also be planted as a potted plant. planting pineapple potted plants at home can not only beautify the environment, but also purify the air. and the pineapple fruit can also be used.

How to plant pineapple in pot

1. Choose a healthy pineapple

Buy mature fresh pineapples with firm green leaves at the top. Avoid picking over-ripe pineapples or those whose leaves are already bitter. Gently pull the leaves if the leaves are easy to pull out. It means that the pineapple is too mature to grow.

2. Cut off the leaf crown

Cut the crown off the top of the pineapple with a knife. In order to prevent the rootstock from rotting, it is best not to have pulp on the crown.

3. Remove the leaves at the bottom of the crown

Carefully tear off the leaves under the crown so that the bottom reveals the bare stems around 4cm, but when tearing the leaves, avoid damaging the root primordium under the leaf scars.

4. Keep the wound dry

Leave the crown of the treated leaves in a cool and ventilated place for 1-2 days to promote the dry healing of their wounds and prevent the pineapple from rotting.

5. Hydroponic pineapple

After the leaf crown wound is dried, prepare a transparent cup with pure water, then put the leaf crown into the cup, soak the rhizome in clear water 3cm or so, then put it on the light transparent, ventilated and warm windowsill, the environment maintains a certain humidity, and change the water every two days to ensure the activity of clear water and promote root induction.

6. Wait for the crown to take root

If the temperature is high, the crown can take root in about 2-3 weeks, but if the temperature and humidity are not enough, the rooting time will be longer. If you plant in winter, you need to keep them in a warm place for maintenance, spray more water into the surrounding air to maintain humidity, and pay attention to sunshade. The water in the cup should be changed frequently before taking root. After taking root, you can wait for the water in the cup to become turbid before changing it.

7. Hydroponic culture to soil culture

When the root system of the crown grows to 2-5cm, it can be transferred to the soil for conservation, and if you are too lazy to turn, you can continue hydroponics.

First of all, prepare the slightly acidic soil with strong drainage permeability, loose and fertile, you can directly use the original map to mix compost soil, peat soil and river sand, and then choose a flowerpot with good drainage performance for planting, you can dip some rooting powder on the rhizome before planting, and cover a thin layer of soil properly after planting.

8. Late maintenance

After turning the pineapple into soil culture for 7 days, it can be planted in a place with sufficient light, keeping the soil in the basin moist, neither too dry nor too wet. After 2 months of pineapple growth, you can properly apply some thin fertilizer to the basin. After 60 days, the crown bud of the pineapple will develop into a new plant. You can gently pull it to see if it has formed a new root. If it looks rotten, replant it.

After growing into a new plant, the leaves of the original pineapple crown bud will gradually begin to die and turn brown, and then the new leaves will gradually grow out. It is necessary to cut off the original leaves in time and water them at most once a week. When the pineapple plants grow bigger, it is best to replace them into larger containers. Generally, pineapple fruit can grow after planting for 1-3 years.
