The thickness of soil should be more than 1m, sandy soil or heavy loam is the best, orchard requires convenient drainage and irrigation, leeward facing sun, sufficient light and convenient transportation, generally hilly, mountainous, flat or beach land can be planted, the annual precipitation of navel orange planting area should be above 1000mm, the pH value of soil should be controlled between 5.56.5and the annual average temperature should be between 18 and 22 ℃. The annual sunshine time should reach about 1200-2200 hours.

1. Temperature requirement

Navel oranges begin to germinate when the daily average temperature is stable at 12.8 ℃ in spring, and the most suitable daily average temperature for their growth is 23-29 ℃.

2. Lighting requirements

The negative tolerance of navel orange is strong, but the light time can affect the yield of navel orange. If the light is insufficient, the growth status and fruit number of navel orange trees as well as the coloring degree of fruit will be relatively poor. Navel oranges can grow and develop normally when the annual light hours reach 1200-2200 hours.

3. Rainfall

Navel oranges had better be planted in areas with annual rainfall of more than 1000mm. Full Rain Water can make navel oranges grow better.

4. Soil requirements

The thickness of soil should not be less than 0.8m, and it is better to be more than 1m. It is best to choose sandy soil, heavy soil and other soils. Light and heavy sticky soils are not suitable for planting.

The PH content in the soil should be controlled between 5.5 and 6.5. If the PH value is lower than 4.8 or higher than 8.5, it will affect the growth of navel orange. The soil should contain 3-5% organic matter. Within the range of absorption, the content of organic matter should reach 2-3%, at least 1.2%. The available phosphorus in the soil should not be less than 0.05%, or at least above 0.08%. The content of available potassium should be more than 0.8%, at least 0.5%, and the content of hydrolyzed nitrogen should be more than 10-30 mg / 100 g.

5. Temperature requirement

The annual rainfall of navel orange planting areas should be about 1600mm, the average temperature should be about 18-22 ℃, the absolute minimum temperature should not be lower than minus 5 degrees Celsius, the average temperature in January should not be lower than 7 ℃, the average annual effective accumulated temperature of ≥ 10 C should be about 5500-6500 C, the relative humidity in the air should be controlled at about 70-80%, the annual light time should be about 1800 hours, and the annual frost-free period should be more than 280 days. During fruit ripening period, the temperature difference between day and night should be more than 10 ℃.

6. Orchard selection

Meet the above requirements, but also convenient drainage and irrigation, sunny leeward, slope less than 25% and convenient transportation, planting in hills, mountains, flat or beach, navel oranges can also be planted above the maximum flood water level, if the orchard is vulnerable to frost and wind damage, 3-5 rows of shelterbelts should be planted in the periphery.

To plant navel oranges in hernia hills with a large slope, it is best to build a lift point, measure the contours according to the designed line spacing according to the proportion of 0.2% 40.3%, and then build a high terrace, requiring high outside and low inside, and dig bamboo trenches under the inner staircase wall to store water and drain water.

In the case of farmland planting, due to the high groundwater level, it is easy to cause stagnant water in the rainy season, which will affect the growth of navel oranges, so the cultivation of navel oranges in farmland should be carried out by means of deep trenches and high beds, and drainage ditches should be opened in the fields.

In order to ensure the land for grain production, it is best to plant fruit trees in hills or slopes.
