What is Banlangen?

Radix Isatidis, also known as Isatis indigotica and indigo, is a cruciferous herb, which belongs to the traditional valuable recommended medicinal materials. Its roots and leaves can be used in medicine; Radix Isatidis is called Radix Isatidis, and leaves are called Daqing Leaf. Its roots and leaves taste bitter and cold, and have the functions of heat-clearing and detoxification, cooling blood and eliminating spots. They like to grow in a mild and humid climate, do not have high requirements for soil, and are widely distributed in various parts of our country.

Planting technique of Radix Isatidis

1. Land selection

Radix Isatidis is a deep-rooted plant, it is best to plant in deep, loose and fertile soil; before sowing, spread 3000-4000 kg ring fertilizer, 15 kg diamine and 4 kg biological potassium fertilizer per mu, spread it evenly to the soil, and dig deeply, preferably above 30cm, to facilitate root growth.

2. Sowing seeds

You can choose between spring sowing and summer sowing, generally spring sowing in early April and summer sowing in late May. Soak the seeds in 40 °warm water for 4 hours before sowing, mix them well with grass ash, then 20cm the border according to the row spacing, open a shallow trench with a deep 1.5cm or so, spread the seeds evenly into the ditch, cover them with 1cm soil, and pour enough water after stepping on them. Generally, the seedlings can emerge in about 7-10 days.

3. Seed retention and seed collection

Generally speaking, the annual Radix Isatidis does not blossom and bear fruit, and it can be rooted in the year of spring sowing. When ploughing the roots, it is necessary to select the thick, robust and unbifurcated species that are disease-free and insect-free, and transplant them to the fertile planting land according to the row spacing of 40 × 30cm. Watering in time after planting, strengthening daily management, cultivating soil, fertilizing and preventing cold in winter, watering, loosening soil and weeding in time after the seedlings turn green in April of the following year. After the seeds are ripe, harvest them in time, then dry and thresh them, and store them in a dry place.

4. Daily management

Keep the soil moist and weed regularly after sowing; when the seedling height is 7-8cm, fix the seedlings according to the plant spacing 6-10cm to remove the weak seedlings; topdressing and watering in time can promote the root growth of Radix Isatidis to be thick and the yield is high.

5. Pest control

Radix Isatidis is easy to suffer from downy mildew, cabbage insects, aphids and other diseases. In the process of planting, drainage should be carried out in time to prevent summer waterlogging and ensure that the garden is ventilated and transparent; during the growing period, phoxim is used to irrigate the roots twice to prevent rotting roots.
