Seedling raising: prepare the cutting medium, cut off the robust top branches of 5cm from April to May, keep 1-2 leaves, and put them into the sand bed after the cut is dried, it will take root in 10-15 days. Soil: choose imported peat with strong drainage and permeability, and then mix it with water and put it into a basin. On the basin: lay the filter layer in the basin, put the culture medium after applying appropriate amount of base fertilizer, and then release the plant to ensure adequate air circulation, light and water when breeding.

What is a smoker?

Smoking ghost, namely Douban Green, is a perennial evergreen herb belonging to Piperaceae and Piperaceae. Their leaves are small, but thick and green, and can absorb harmful elements such as formaldehyde in the air and nicotine in secondhand smoke, hence the name "smoker".

It is mainly distributed in Taiwan, Fujian, Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan, southern Gansu and southern Xizang; it is also distributed every week, in Africa, tropical Asia, subtropics and Oceania, mostly on wet stones or dead trees.

Breeding methods of smokers

To plant smokers, cuttings are often adopted to propagate.

First, raising seedlings

1. Cutting substrate

Nutritious soil or river sand, peat soil and other materials can be used; if home cutting, you can use the prepared and sterilized cutting substrate or medium-coarse river sand, but rinse with clean water several times before use.

2. Cuttage

Every year from April to May, select the sturdy top branches, select the branches around 5cm as cuttings, keep 1-2 leaves at the top, and insert them into the wet sand bed after the cut is dried; or cut the leaves with petioles with a knife, dry slightly and then obliquely insert them into the sand bed, usually rooting in 10-15 days.

2. Soil

Select the imported peat with loose and good drainage permeability in 5-40mm, break the peat, mix it with water and put it into the basin for backup.

Third, put on the basin

First put 2-3cm coarse-grained matrix or ceramsite as filter layer, sprinkle 1-2cm fully mature organic fertilizer as base fertilizer, cover it with 1-2cm culture medium, and then put the plant into the basin to avoid contact between fertilizer and root system, so as to avoid root burning.

Matters needing attention in breeding smokers

1. In the peak growing season of early spring and late autumn, cut the stems or leaves with 3-4 leaf nodes and insert them into the substrate after the wound is dried. Spray the cuttings and matrix with water, as long as you ensure that the substrate is moist, you can quickly grow roots and new buds; when the temperature is high in late spring and early autumn, cuttings are easy to rot, so it is best not to cuttage.

2. In summer, we should pay attention to strengthening the air circulation so that the temperature in the plant can be released, put it in the semi-shade or configure it with shading equipment, and spray water to the plant 2-3 times a day to ensure sufficient water.

3. In winter, move the plant to a place where there is plenty of light indoors; if you breed it outdoors, wrap it in a film to help it survive the winter smoothly, but every two days, uncover the film at noon when the temperature is high and let it breathe.
