The chestnut seed is the chestnut we often eat with its astringent skin, the chestnut fruit is wrapped by a hard thorn, and the chestnut is only after the hard thorn is opened, generally there are about three chestnuts in a chestnut fruit.

Usually the chestnut we eat is the seed of chestnut. In fact, the fruit of chestnut is surrounded by a layer of hard thorns. After opening the hard thorns, there are about 3 chestnuts inside a chestnut fruit.

Seed storage

After picking chestnut seeds, it is necessary to select uniform, full and pest-free seeds for sand storage or water storage. Sand storage mainly uses wet sand to accumulate indoors, while water storage uses bamboo baskets to put chestnuts into river water in the mountains. Chestnut is inspected every 10 days or so to screen out problematic seeds.

Indoor root stimulation

1. Warming and promoting root

Generally speaking, you can start building the pool in the middle of February every year, and then put the seeds in to warm up after the pool is finished.

2. Base pool

Build a pit with bricks indoors, spread it with fine sand about 5 centimeters deep, put chestnut seeds on it, and cover it with sand until the pile is about 1 meter high, and the top is covered with 10 centimeters of sand. Sand words should be kept moist so that they can't squeeze out water.

3. Heating

Ignite sawdust in the pit hole, the hole is blocked with gunny bags, and then covered with plastic sheeting to increase the temperature and humidity in the hole.

4. Temperature

It is appropriate to keep the temperature in the base pool at about 20 ℃. If the temperature is heated for about 10 days, the general root can reach about 2cm.

Outdoor budding

1. Masonry pool

Outside, choose a place with leeward to the sun and good drainage, first build a soil greenhouse with bricks, build a border pool on the ground, with a width of 1.5 meters, a pond height of about 3 centimeters, and a fine sand pad of about 5 centimeters at the bottom of the pool.

2. Setting up seeds to promote budding

When the indoor root length reaches about 2 cm, the seed can be taken out, cut off from the radicle 1 cm, and then quickly dipped with 5 × 10-4 to 8 × 10-4 naphthalene acetic acid solution, immediately placed flat in the outdoor brick pool to promote the lateral root, control the main root and promote the normal growth of the germ.

The seed row spacing is generally 3 cm × 7 cm, which is about 7 cm thick covered with net sand, and gently pressed with wood to promote germ growth. The best water content of sand is about 50%. Do not remove the chestnut shell to ensure that the seeds are intact.

3. Film mulching

When the seeds are all covered, we will cover the plastic film and do a good job of protection around it to keep the temperature and humidity in the pond appropriate. The sand bed in the shed should be checked frequently, and if it is too dry, we should spray water in time to keep it moist.
