Hawthorn planting needs suitable temperature, light and moisture, and Hawthorn tree has strong adaptability, not only cold and high temperature, but also drought and waterlogging, but in order to improve fruit quality and yield, it is best to choose sunny, warm climate and fertile soil for planting.

Hawthorn seeds are hard and have poor water permeability, so they need to go through two winter sand storage to release the dormancy period of seeds. Hawthorn seedlings are mostly propagated by grafting, and wild Hawthorn or cultivated varieties can be used for Zhe wood. Generally, it takes 4 years to produce Hawthorn seedlings.

Temperature

Hawthorn likes the cool and humid environment, that is, it is cold-resistant and high-temperature-resistant. It has strong adaptability and can grow healthily at a temperature of 36-43 ℃. Hawthorn is generally distributed in barren mountains, sunny slopes, semi-sunny slopes, valleys and other places, with a slope of about 25 degrees. Hawthorn is drought-tolerant, when there is too much water, the branches and leaves grow faster, and the requirement for the soil is not high, but it will grow better in the slightly acidic soil with deep soil layer, fertile soil, loose soil and good drainage.

Light

Hawthorn likes sunlight, but it can also grow in poor light conditions. under sufficient sunlight, Hawthorn will bear more fruit, larger fruit, good glossiness, high nutrition and more vitamin C.

Moisture content

Hawthorn trees are resistant to both drought and waterlogging. Hawthorn can grow normally in areas with precipitation of more than 700mm and soil water content of more than 15%. Although Hawthorn is more resistant to waterlogging, it is not suitable to be planted in soil with high or low groundwater level, so as not to cause unhealthy root growth and poor development of Hawthorn trees as a whole.

Select a place

Hawthorn tree is suitable to grow in flat land, hills and gentle slopes where the soil is fertile, among which the southeast slope is the most suitable. We should also pay attention to the water storage, drainage and irrigation and drought prevention of the planting land. The seedlings cultivated by Hawthorn seeds are called seedling rootstocks, which generally need to be grafted before they can be cultivated. Hawthorn seed shell is thick and hard, before sowing Hawthorn, the seed should be treated in advance to ensure that the germination rate of Hawthorn will be better.

Reproduction method

The main results are as follows: 1. Early seed collection and variable temperature treatment of sand storage.

The physiological maturity period of wild Hawthorn is from mid-August to early September. When the fruit begins to be colored, the seeds are picked early and the seeds are mature, and the seeds are not completely ossified and the sutures are not tight, so it is easy to emerge seedlings. The seeds collected will crush the pulp, wait for the pulp to rot and soften, rub it into pieces, rinse it with water, scald it with boiling water for about 5 minutes, soak it out with cold water for about 5 minutes, soak it in cold water for one night, put it on the cement floor the next day, expose it evenly, put it away at night, soak it in water, and then in the sun, know that when the seed shell is cracked to about 80%, you can prepare sand storage, and a small number of seeds will germinate in the second year of sand storage. The germinated seeds can be sown.

2. Sand storage method of early seed collection

Pick the Hawthorn fruit in the physiological maturity period, press the pulp with a mill, scrub it with water, remove the pulp and impurities inside, and then soak the washed seeds in a jar for about 10 days, and change the water every 2 days. After 10 days, the seeds were taken out and stored in sand. The seeds should be mixed evenly and put into the dug pit. The pit is best dug in a sunny place where there is no wind, and the size of the pit is determined according to the length of the seeds. It is best to set up a handful of straw in the middle of the pit as an air hole and fill the pit with soil, a little above the ground, to prevent stagnant water. When the seeds are stored in sand for about 200 days, the seed germination rate can reach more than 95% by opening a hole to sprout and sow in April of the following year.

3. Horse dung fermentation

Scald the Hawthorn seeds with hot water, then soak them in warm water for about 5 days, then mix the seeds and horse dung at 1:4, put them into a pit 45 cm deep to cover them, and let them heat to about 35 ℃. After 50 days, the seeds are cracked and taken out, then they are stratified with wet sand, and the seeds are sown in the spring of the second year, and seedlings can grow in the same year.

4. Corrosion method

The Hawthorn seeds are soaked in lime water or fresh urine, the seed coat is corroded, the seed shell is cracked, and then stratified with wet sand, seedlings can also grow when sowing in the spring of the following year.
