Choose soil: choose loose and humus-rich acid soil, pH value is controlled between 5.5-6.5. Suitable temperature: the suitable temperature of rhododendron is between 15-28 ℃. Proper watering: the azaleas should be watered during flowering and in summer. Reasonable lighting: should not be overexposed in the sun. Timely fertilization: it is appropriate to apply a small amount of fertilizer for many times to keep the acidity of rhododendron pot soil. Disease control: timely pest control. Transplant cultivation: azaleas change pots when they grow up.

1. Select soil

When planting azaleas, we can choose loose and humus-rich acid soil. when planting azaleas, we should ensure that the basin soil is acidic soil rich in humus, the pH value should be controlled between 5.5 and 6.5, and the soil should be loose, permeable and well drained. Be careful not to use clay or alkaline soil.

2. Suitable temperature

During this period, it is necessary to maintain a suitable indoor temperature, due to different varieties of azaleas, and the temperature demand is also different. most varieties of rhododendrons prefer a warm environment, the suitable temperature is between 15 and 28 ℃, and the indoor temperature should not be lower than 10 ℃ in winter. When the temperature is too high, it will cause the azaleas to stop growing, so they should be placed in a cool and ventilated place in summer and indoors in winter. The indoor temperature can be adjusted when the temperature is low. Avoid the freezing injury of azaleas.

3. Proper watering

Azaleas love the humid environment, so they should be watered more during flowering and summer, and during the period from April to June, they need to have enough water and water once every evening. When the summer temperature is high and hot, the azaleas evaporate more water and can be watered once a day, while in the spring and autumn season, they can be watered every four days, and the amount of water can be reduced appropriately when the azaleas enter the dormant period in winter.

It is best to use natural water when watering, such as Rain Water, pond water, fish tank water, river water, etc., you can store a little "trapped water" at ordinary times, and the trapped water and azaleas are kept at the same temperature for about 2 days, so that the water and soil temperature are the same. It is also conducive to the storage of more nutrients.

4. Reasonable lighting

Azaleas should not be overexposed in the sun, so they should be sheltered in the sun to avoid burning the branches and leaves of azaleas, but the specific light still needs to change with the climate, such as 60% shading in flowering and summer, while in spring and autumn, the sun is not very strong, so it can be shaded by about 20%.

5. Timely fertilization

Azaleas like fertilizer but avoid concentrated fertilizer, so they should apply a small amount of fertilizer. In February to March, in order to promote the growth of rhododendron branches and leaves, they can apply some light fertilizer, mainly nitrogen and potassium, usually every 10 days. During the flowering period from April to June, they mainly apply phosphate fertilizer and potash fertilizer as a supplement. Once every 5 days, fertilizer should be stopped when the temperature is above 28 ℃, but less fertilizer should be applied in winter. Usually, you can apply some alum fertilizer water and add a small amount of ferrous sulfate to the water to ensure the acidity of rhododendron flowerpot soil.

6. Prevention and control of diseases

It is necessary to carry out timely prevention and control of diseases and insect pests. The more common diseases and insect pests of rhododendron are red spiders, military insects, brown spot, and so on.

7. Transplant cultivation

After the azaleas grow up, they should be transplanted and cultivated in time to avoid affecting their growth. usually, 5-inch pots can be selected for plants in 5 years, 6-inch pots for plants in 6-10 years, and 8-inch pots for plants over 11 years old. a little slow-release fertilizer needs to be added during the basin change.
