Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Before planting garlic, it is best to choose the garlic species with high survival rate and high quality, and then activate the garlic species for planting. Before planting, turn the soil, expose the sun, and apply an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer in the bottom pit. Garlic can not directly touch the fertilizer when planting, and the garlic tip is facing up. Just cover the bottom.

Garlic planting before the best choice of high survival rate, high-quality garlic species, and then activate garlic species for planting, before planting soil, exposure, in the bottom pit applied the right amount of organic fertilizer, planting garlic can not directly touch the fertilizer, garlic tip up, only the bottom cover can, generally planting garlic are close to winter, need to keep warm against cold, the temperature is less than 10 ℃ need to cover the insulation layer, the later stage of reasonable water and fertilizer can.

1. Seed selection

Old farmers generally have their own unique way of seed selection, seed selection before planting is very important. The grain on the top of the garlic with high variety is more natural and smooth, the quality is poor, on the contrary, the precocious garlic is the small clove, and the big clove is the big clove. The garlic with uniform clove size is a very good variety, and the garlic with fuller tip has a high survival rate and high quality rate, but the dried garlic is definitely not good.

2. Planting time

The planting time of garlic varies according to different regions and different varieties of garlic. Garlic can be divided into spring sowing and autumn sowing. In China, the demarcation point between autumn sowing and spring sowing is 35-38 degrees north latitude. In places south of 35 degrees, the temperature is relatively warm in winter, and garlic seedlings can generally survive the winter safely, so they are generally sown in autumn and can be harvested at the beginning of summer in the following year. On the other hand, in the area north of 3 degrees north latitude, the winter is relatively cold, and it is difficult for garlic seedlings to survive the winter safely, so they cannot choose to sow in autumn, so it is very easy to suffer frost injury, so they generally choose to sow in early spring and can be harvested in mid-summer or late summer. and if it is in the area between 35-38 degrees north latitude, it is OK to choose spring sowing or autumn sowing.

3. Sowing and soil preparation

Good garlic needs to be treated before it can be planted, which can improve its survival rate. First activate the garlic seed, in order to let it absorb enough sunlight, thoroughly activate, you can plant in the mild sun for a day or so, pay attention to the hot sun to dry the seed will kill it. Before planting, first turn the soil to sun and sterilize, apply appropriate amount of chemical fertilizer and organic fertilizer at or around the bottom of the pit, pay attention to the garlic seed can not directly touch the fertilizer, plant garlic tip upward, cover the bottom of the soil, can not completely cover, will affect its survival rate.

4. Reasonable water and fertilizer

After planting, we must have reasonable water and fertilizer, which can increase its yield. Dry cultivation, the need to water once a week, according to the soil wettability to control the watering time, so that the soil can be kept moist. Paddy field planting, generally do not need watering, early loosen the soil thoroughly on it. Garlic carries out a small amount of topdressing when it comes out of the stick and split, and many times if the land is barren.

5. Guard against cold in winter

The time of planting garlic is close to winter, and the temperature is relatively low, so it is necessary to prevent the cold in time. The temperature above 15 ℃ is the most suitable for garlic seed growth. When the temperature is lower than 10 ℃, garlic seed needs to be covered with a layer of insulation, which is mainly rice stalk material, followed by plastic cover.
