Quinoa planting time, usually at the end of spring
The planting time of quinoa is generally at the end of spring, the soil of the planting land should be highly permeable, the soil quality should be fertile and the drainage and irrigation should be good, the residue should be removed during soil preparation, the depth of planting should not exceed 3cm, the seedlings should be replenished and interseedling should be carried out in time after the emergence of quinoa seedlings, and weeding should be carried out properly during the period.
First, choose the planting place
Quinoa has good adaptability, but if you want to improve the quality and yield of quinoa, you should choose the planting site in the leeward and sunny area, and the soil environment should be permeable, the soil quality should be fertile and the irrigation and drainage should be good.
Second, prepare for land preparation
It is not suitable for continuous cropping when planting quinoa, otherwise it is prone to all kinds of diseases and insect pests, and it will also cause weeds. Generally, the wheat grains of quinoa are relatively small, and the ability of the top soil of seeds is also poor, so it is necessary to do a good job in soil preparation, pay attention to whether there are residues of previous crops in the soil, clean up in time when there are residues, apply sufficient basic fertilizer after soil preparation, and fertilize with completely mature farm manure, which can make the soil more fertile. It is beneficial to promote seed germination and emergence.
Planting at the right time
It is not appropriate to plant quinoa too early or too late. In general, the southern region should choose to plant at the end of spring. If planted too early, the seed germination will be inhibited because of the low temperature, and the seedlings will also suffer from the cold injury of spring. When planting quinoa too late, the harvest time will be delayed, and the growth of seedlings may also be affected by the high temperature in summer.
Soil moisture should be observed when planting, and the planting depth can be adjusted according to soil moisture. Generally, the depth of penetration and shallowness are not conducive to the growth of quinoa, so the planting depth should not exceed 3cm. Too deep will make the seeds unable to top the soil. Secondly, too shallow planting will also cause quinoa lodging.
Fourth, replenish inter-seedling seedlings
After the emergence of quinoa seedlings, it is necessary to do a good job of seedling inspection, so that quinoa has a high yield, and seedling replenishment should be carried out in time. When the seedlings grow to about 15cm, seedlings should be carried out properly to ensure that each quinoa plant has sufficient growth space, and the number of remaining seedlings can be increased appropriately during this period.
In order to prevent weeds in the seedling stage of quinoa, weeding can be given properly to promote faster seedling growth and ensure full absorption of nutrients. In the later stage, depending on the growth of quinoa, ploughing and soil cultivation should be carried out in time. When the height of quinoa grows to the thigh, weeding should be given again to avoid absorbing quinoa growth nutrients.
5. Harvest time
The harvest time of quinoa depends on the plant and grain of quinoa. After quinoa matures, when all ears of quinoa grain turn yellow, the leaves begin to wither and fall, and the grain of quinoa is full and hard, so it can be harvested.
The harvest time of quinoa should not be too early or too late. If harvested prematurely, mildew will easily occur when the wheat grains are not fully mature, resulting in a decline in yield, and lodging will easily occur when the harvest is too late, resulting in a large number of wheat grains falling in the wheat field. The yield and quality are poor, so it is necessary to avoid rainy weather during harvest. Such wheat grains are not easy to be stored in case of water, and are prone to diseases and insect pests.
