Crab claw orchid is a favorite plant, it can effectively absorb carbon dioxide in the air, purify the air, crab claw orchid flower color is divided into red, yellow, purple, orange, pink, etc., but red flowers are the most common.

1. Basin soil

To choose a sandy soil that can drain water and maintain moisture and good ventilation, you can use sandy soil, moldy soil, compost soil and sand in a ratio of 3:4:2:1 to prepare soil suitable for the growth of crab claws. When planting in a pot, you can put about 2cm of small stones in the bottom of the pot, then spread a thin layer of soil, then sprinkle some decomposed chicken manure, bone meal and hoof horn chips on the thin soil as base fertilizer, then add a thin layer of culture soil on the base fertilizer, then put the crab claw orchid in the center of the pot, add the soil prepared before to maintain the original depth, then compact the soil, pour water thoroughly and put it in the semi-shade.

II. Watering

Crab claw orchid likes to grow in a semi-shady and humid environment, and in its growth period, it should keep the soil moist. It can be watered once a day or every other day. It can spray wet plants from top to bottom. It can irrigate the soil thoroughly every 4 days or so. In this way, watering can keep the soil moist without being too dry or too wet. Crab claw orchid has two periods to stop growing, namely, after flowering and high temperature in summer. At this time, it should be watered properly. After the soil is dry, it should be irrigated thoroughly. Water can be sprayed at high temperatures, which can cool down, but be careful not to water at noon, when water will evaporate faster.

III. Fertilization

During the growth period of crab claw orchid, thin liquid fertilizer is applied once every 15 days, which can be mixed with 30g potassium fertilizer, 15g nitrogen fertilizer and 20g phosphorus fertilizer. Fertilization can be stopped during high temperature in summer, fertilization can be carried out weekly in autumn to provide sufficient nutrients for flower formation, and 1000 times of potassium dihydrogen phosphate liquid fertilizer can be sprayed on leaf surfaces once a week in winter.

IV. Light and Temperature

In the growing season, the crab orchid should be kept in a well-ventilated shade, and in mid-October, the crab orchid has buds and can be moved indoors or placed in a sunny place to avoid frost. The suitable temperature for growth of crab claw orchid is 20℃-25℃. If the temperature is above 22℃, the crab claw orchid should be placed in ventilated shade. In winter, the indoor temperature of crab claw orchid needs to be maintained above 10℃, because the temperature will stop growing when the temperature is above 35℃ or below 2℃.

V. Pest control

Red spiders are most likely to occur and spread in high temperature weather, yellow spots will appear on the stems, serious yellow will lead to wilting, red spiders are most likely to occur in the absence of ventilation, a few can be washed away with water, serious can be sprayed with a concentration of 0.2 degrees of stone sulfur mixture or a concentration of 40% three gas acaricide emulsion 2000 times liquid.
