Sowing: copper tree can be sowed in spring from February to May or in autumn from August to October. Cutting: generally choose the Meiyu season from March to April. Grafting: the use of cutting or budding in spring can improve the survival rate. Transplanting: you can transplant with soil in spring or autumn. Watering: like water but afraid of waterlogging. Fertilization: no fertilization in summer and monthly topdressing in autumn. Pruning: trim according to the actual situation. Turn the basin: turn the basin every 2-3 years, the basin should choose spring.

I. the culture method of copper tree

1. Sowing seeds

The main results are as follows: (1) Bronze tree can be sowed in spring or autumn, from February to May in spring and from August to October in autumn.

(2) flowering from April to June and fruiting from July to September. Copper trees like the sun is not cold-resistant, generally grow in fertile and loose, good drainage of slightly acidic soil.

(3) September to October is the harvest time for the seeds of Codonopsis lanceolata, and it will not germinate until three months later. The copper coin tree species used for sowing should be stored in the sand layer for a period of time, which can increase the seedling emergence rate.

2. Cuttage

The main results are as follows: (1) cutting propagation can be used to sow seeds in the rainy season from March to April.

(2) both hardwood and tender wood can be cut when cutting. It is best to cut 12-20cm cuttings from strong plants, retaining 3-4 top leaves and cutting off 1/2 of each stem and leaf.

(3) after completion, the cuttings can be cut into the culture pot, and the depth of cutting should be controlled at 8-10cm.

3. Grafting

For a small number of plants that need to be grafted, such as species with colored striped leaves, this kind of propagation generally chooses to use splicing or bud grafting in spring, when the tree is just sprouting and usually has a high survival rate.

4. Transplanting

Transplant can choose spring and autumn March-April or autumn with soil transplanting, because Tongqian branches and leaves luxuriant, leaf photosynthesis is easy to make water evaporation, so it is necessary to prune properly. The whisker root of Tongqian tree is very few, so it should be treated and bundled to prevent loose balls when transplanting with soil.

5. Watering

The main results are as follows: (1) in the heyday of its growth, it should be watered more to meet the growth of the rhizome and pour it until the basin soil is moist, not stagnant water to prevent rotting roots.

(2) the temperature is high in summer and the water evaporates quickly. In order to keep up with the evaporation rate of water, we can spray water on the leaves of Codonopsis lanceolata, which is also helpful to reduce the temperature.

6. Fertilization

Apply diluted cake fertilizer and water once a month in spring, no fertilizer in summer, topdressing once a month in autumn and once in winter. According to the actual situation, an appropriate amount of fertilizer can be added or reduced.

7. Pruning

Copper tree has strong repairability and germination, and is very resistant to pruning. For the plants that still need to be processed, the branches are retained according to the actual situation to facilitate later modeling and processing. For the plants that are mature for viewing, you can cut off the branches and buds of the excess parts and keep the shape graceful.

8. Turn the basin

In general, it is necessary to turn the basin every 2 years or so in the spring from February to March, and the dormant period can also turn the basin for the copper tree. When turning the basin, you can trim off the excess old branches, fertilize fully, retain 1/2 of the original soil, and turn the basin.

II. Matters needing attention of the copper tree

1. Before emergence, the seedlings of Codonopsis lanceolata should be properly watered and moisturized and shaded.

2. The species of copper tree with color markings will be mutated, and sometimes atavism will appear (the leaves turn green).

3. The cuttings of Cunninghamia lanceolata cuttings should be treated. If possible, ABT2 rooting powder can be used to promote root growth and improve the survival rate of cuttings. Usage: dissolve 1g rooting powder in 500ml 95% alcohol, then add 500mL distilled water with 1000mg/L solution, and then add water to dilute to the concentration of 50mg/L. Before cutting, the base of the branch was fully soaked for 2-4 h, the row spacing of cuttings was 10cm × 10cm, the depth was 8-10cm, the cuttings were slightly shaken, and finally sprayed with water.
