Soil: choose sandy soil with loose ventilation and good drainage and irrigation conditions. Light: good light is conducive to flowering. Temperature: suitable for high temperature ventilation, not cold resistant. Fertilization: slow-acting fertilizer is applied during its growing period. Pruning: better pruning after flowering. Overwintering: autumn and winter is its dormant period, the growth is slow, not suitable for fertilization. Change the basin: you need to change the basin every year at the seedling stage. Propagation methods: sowing, cutting, grafting, striping. Matters needing attention: actively prevent and control diseases and apply fertilizer correctly.

I. growth conditions

The main results are as follows: 1. Desert rose is suitable for growing in high temperature, drought and sunny climate. Its growth soil requires sandy soil rich in calcium, loose air permeability, good drainage and irrigation conditions, not resistant to concealment, cold resistance, avoid agricultural fertilizer and raw fertilizer, avoid waterlogging, and is suitable for growing at 25-30 ℃.

2. In summer, you can put it in a sunny place outdoors, without shading and watering enough water to keep the soil moist and avoid stagnant water.

3. It is necessary to control the amount of watering in winter, and the overwintering temperature should be controlled above 10 ℃, which can make the fallen leaves dormant.

4. Organic fertilizer can be applied 2-3 times according to specific conditions when planting.

2. Culture methods

1. Soil: desert rose grows near the desert, and it likes sandy soil with good drainage. In the peak period of plant growth, some small gravel or river sand can be added to its matrix, which is conducive to drainage and waterlogging prevention, and the basin needs to be changed every year in the seedling stage.

2. Illumination: desert roses need good light when they grow, which is beneficial to flowering. Even in the dormant period, the light time should not be too little.

3. Temperature: desert rose is suitable to grow in a high-temperature and ventilated environment, has poor cold resistance and is easy to raise in the south. It needs to be moved indoors in winter to keep dry.

4. Fertilization: desert roses grow rapidly during the rainy season in spring and summer every year, so it is best to apply slow-acting fertilizer, such as rotten compost, etc.

5. Pruning: desert roses must pay attention to pruning at ordinary times, otherwise they will lose their ornamental value. Pruning after flowering is the best. If you want to blossom more branches, you need to leave more ramets.

6. Overwintering: autumn and winter is the dormant period of desert roses, their growth is relatively slow or even stop growing, so there is no need for fertilization at this stage.

7. Change the basin: the basin needs to be changed every year at the seedling stage, and the method is relatively simple. Do not water the basin before changing the basin. After the basin soil is completely dry, the plant can be poured out, the root system can be trimmed, and the old basin soil can be removed.

III. Methods of reproduction

1. Sowing: generally desert roses are sown in summer, and the germination temperature is 21 ℃.

2. Grafting: desert roses can be grafted with oleander as rootstock, and split grafting can be used in summer. After the plants survive, they grow healthily and blossom more easily.

3. Cutting: desert rose is better to be cut in summer. 1-2-year-old branches can be selected, the best is the top branch, cut into 10cm length, and so on, it can be inserted into the sand bed after the incision is dried, and it will take root in about 3-4 weeks.

4. Striping: in summer, the high-altitude striping method is often used to cut off 2/3 of the sturdy branches, then fill them with moss, then wrap them with plastic film, which will take root in about 25 days, and the potted plants can be cut off after 45 days.

IV. matters needing attention in breeding

1, in its growing period should not be wet, should be dry, in summer high temperature generally can be watered once every 3 days, the basin should not be stagnant water.

2. Nitrogen fertilizer should be applied 2-3 times in spring growth period, and compound fertilizer containing calcium and phosphorus can be applied twice before flowering.

3. The main disease of desert rose is soft rot, which is mainly caused by poor ventilation and stagnant water in the basin, which is characterized by white and light yellow near the surface, then dark brown, or even rot, so it is not suitable for overwatering. 1000 times of agricultural streptomycin or 150 times of Bordeaux can be sprayed for drug control, probably every other month or so.
