The period from the Beginning of Spring to Qingming Festival is a good season for longan grafting, that is, about February to March, when longan trees are grafted during this period, not only the fruit rate is high, but also the grafted longan trees can blossom and bear fruit in the following spring. In fact, longan trees can also be grafted in summer and autumn, but the survival rate will be relatively low.

What is the month of longan grafting

January, February and March are the best time for longan grafting. The temperature of grafting in advance was low, the physiological metabolism and humoral flow of the plant were low, and the roots and shoots were in a semi-dormant state.

2. When the grafting is delayed, the survival rate of longan will be affected because the scion consumes a lot of nutrients and is roasted and braised at high temperature, so the suitable healing time between rootstock and scion is not enough.

Second, preparation before longan grafting

1. The longan should be styled and pruned 2-3 days in advance, especially the root water transport system of the exuberant tree is strong, and sawing ahead of time can discharge the excess water from the tree.

2. 2-3 "balanced branches" with weak growth should be left at the grafting interface to dredge the water flow of the tree and promote the healing of the scion of the rootstock.

3. The rootstocks selected for longan grafting should be evenly distributed around. Under the condition of strong tree strength and good fertilizer and water conditions, a small number of auxiliary branches can be retained properly.

4. The auxiliary branches are generally retained, accounting for about 1/4 of the original crown, so as to alleviate the imbalance between nutrition and water of grafted trees. It is appropriate to keep the middle branch in the auxiliary branch.

5. The grafting site of the whole tree should be kept at the same height as far as possible.

6. in order to dwarf cultivation, under the premise of suitable diameter of rootstock, low sawing should be carried out properly. If you choose a rootstock at the same branch level, you should not saw another branch.

7. For large branches or larger branches, cut off the branches and leaves with a machete before sawing to prevent the saw from tearing. The saw blade should be flat and perpendicular to the branch.

Third, the selection of longan scion

1. The mother tree with high quality and representative should be selected as the object of collecting longan scion.

2. Then cut the summer and autumn tree tips with strong growth in the middle and upper part of the crown, full axillary buds and no diseases and insect pests as scions.

3. The leaves of the cut branches should be removed in time and the panicles should be sorted out, and the collection and moisturizing management should be carried out according to a certain number.

4. Longan scions should be picked as they are picked, no more than one week at most.

Fourth, the method of longan grafting

1. The grafting of longan should be carried out according to the steps of tree shape, cutting rootstock, fixing scion, inserting ear bud, binding film and so on.

2. When grafting, rootstocks and scions should be selected with flat pin surfaces to ensure that the scions can be inserted tightly.

3. The bud of the pin is on the slope with an angle of 45 °below the bud eye, and the reverse straight pin becomes a straight plane 3-4 inches long, deep to the cambium or slightly xylem, and then cut off from about 1 inch above the bud hole.

4. The buds should be inserted downward and tightened, and the long straight cut should be aligned with the cambium of the rootstock, and the size should be aligned to one side.

5. When binding, the film closes the transition part between the buds and the rootstock from bottom to top, and the single layer at the bud eye is tightened thin without breaking. Only in this way can the scion bud come out smoothly through the film.
