Soil: it is appropriate to choose sandy soil with loose, fertile and good drainage. Temperature: the suitable temperature during the growth period is about 15-25 ℃. Illumination: avoid sun exposure in summer and give appropriate light in winter. Watering: like humid environment, strong drought resistance, enter the growing season from March to September, this stage should be watered frequently, keep the basin moist, and wait for the topsoil of 1cm to dry before watering in winter. Fertilization: appropriate amount of organic fertilizer can be applied every 10-15 days.

Hanging grass actually refers to grass plants that grow to a certain length and will hang down, of which the most representative is the hanging orchid, also known as hanging pot grass. But soil culture can also be hydroponic culture, hydroponic culture is very simple, plants can remember to add water in time after growing roots, if the leaves are malnourished, drop a little nutrient solution into the water, the more common is soil culture, the specific methods of soil culture are introduced below.

I. the culture method of Cymbidium

1. Soil

Cymbidium likes to be planted in a warm and humid semi-shady environment, which is more resistant to drought, but not resistant to cold, strong vitality, low requirements for soil and light, and it is suitable for sandy soil with fertile, loose and good drainage.

2. Temperature

The suitable growth temperature of Cymbidium is 15-25 ℃. When the temperature is lower than 5-7 ℃ in winter, it is necessary to take measures to keep the orchid warm. When the temperature is below 0 ℃, freezing injury will occur, so it is necessary to pay attention to adjust the indoor temperature.

3. Lighting

Hanging orchids love a cool environment and should not be exposed to the sun. If summer and autumn are exposed directly in the sun, it will cause leaves to turn yellow and serious plants will all die. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid sun exposure in spring, summer and autumn, and ultraviolet rays are not strong when entering winter. Can give appropriate light, is conducive to the growth of Cymbidium more robust.

4. Watering

Hanging orchid love the humid environment, drought resistance is also relatively strong, but in March-September into the growing season, to often water the basin to keep the soil moist, and in winter to wait for the basin 1cm deep topsoil dry, and then watering, the soil is too dry will also cause leaves to fade, so need to ensure that there is sufficient water, but there can not be too much water, otherwise it will lead to hanging orchid leaf tip dry.

5. Fertilization

The growth rate of Cymbidium is relatively fast, if there is not enough fertilizer and water, it will cause scorched head senescence and leaves yellowing. From spring to autumn, organic fertilizer can be applied every 7-10 days, but for Jinxin, Phnom Penh and other flower and leaf varieties, less nitrogen fertilizer should be applied to avoid the color of flowers and leaves fade due to excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer. Therefore, retting organic fertilizers such as bone meal and eggshell can be properly applied, and a small amount of diluent should be put in after the fertilizer is fully fermented. It can be irrigated every 10-15 days, which is beneficial to the growth of flowers and leaves.

II. Matters needing attention in culturing Cymbidium

In the process of culture, attention should be paid to pruning and changing pots. The roots of Cymbidium are relatively developed, and soil and pots should be changed every half a year, otherwise it will lead to insufficient nutrition of plants. During this period, old and yellow leaves should be pruned in time, and overdense growth of Cymbidium will cause poor ventilation and prone to scale insects and other pests, so it is necessary to give priority to prevention. Cymbidium leaves come into contact with walls and other obstacles for a long time, or insufficient supply of fertilizer and water or too much water will make leaf tips withered and yellow. Therefore, attention needs to be paid to strengthening maintenance.
