Culture methods: rubber trees can be prepared and cultured with plain sand, garden soil, rotten leaf soil and other materials, and mixed with a small amount of farm manure as base fertilizer, the suitable temperature for growth is 20-25 ℃, scattered light can be given, sufficient water is needed during growth, basin soil is moist, watering should be controlled in winter to avoid rotting roots, and topdressing can be applied with nitrogen, phosphate and potassium fertilizer. Note: in the later stage, it is necessary to prune dead branches, weak branches, bifurcated branches and introverted branches in time, and the basin needs to be changed every 2 years.

I. methods of culturing rubber trees

1. Soil

Rubber trees like sandy loam which is fertile and loose and well drained. The matrix can be prepared with garden soil, rotten leaf soil, plain sand and other materials, while a small amount of farm manure is added as base fertilizer.

2. Temperature

Rubber trees like the warm environment, the suitable temperature for growth is 20-25 ℃, it can bear high temperature, it can grow healthily when the temperature is above 30 ℃, but it is not cold-resistant, the safe winter temperature is 5 ℃, the cold tolerance of variegated leaf varieties is relatively poor, the overwintering temperature needs to be stable above 8 ℃, and a large number of fallen leaves will appear when the temperature is too low.

3. Lighting

The main results are as follows: (1) Rubber trees like bright scattered light and have good shade tolerance, but they are not resistant to strong sunlight exposure. Excessive light will easily lead to leaf burns and yellowing and scorched leaves.

(2) the light should not be too overcast, which will easily lead to a large number of fallen leaves and lighten the beautiful patches of variegated varieties. It is necessary to shade the plants during the period from May to September, or they can be moved to places with sufficient scattered light for maintenance. Sufficient sunlight is needed in the rest of the season.

4. Watering

Rubber trees like the moist soil environment, and need sufficient water during the growth period, which is helpful to keep the basin soil moist. In winter, rubber trees need to control watering. When the temperature is too low and the basin soil is too wet, it is easy to cause plant root rot.

5. Fertilization

The main results are as follows: (1) the rubber tree grows rapidly, so it needs timely replenishment of nutrients to promote the plant to grow more vigorously, and nitrogen fertilizer can be applied 2-3 times a month, while the varieties with colored markings will grow slowly, and the times of fertilization can be reduced properly. at the same time, phosphate and potash fertilizer can be applied to make the speckles on the leaves shiny and beautiful.

(2) if excessive or single application of nitrogen fertilizer will make the speckle color lighten or disappear, it is necessary to stop applying nitrogen fertilizer in September, and proper topdressing of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer is beneficial to improve the cold resistance of the plant, and the plant is dormant in winter. Fertilizer needs to be stopped at this time.

Matters needing attention in culturing rubber trees

1. Pruning branches and leaves

In spring, we can go out of the shed to prune the branches and leaves, cut off the withered branches, weak branches, bifurcated branches and introverted branches inside the crown, and need to cut short the branches protruding from the crown, which is beneficial to the good ventilation and light transmission inside the plant and keep the tree shape beautiful. if the crown is too large, the peripheral branches can be cut short, and the overdense branches need to be trimmed in time during the growth period.

2. Change the basin and keep the humidity

Generally, the basin needs to be changed every 2 years. When the weather is sunny and the air is dry, it is necessary to spray water to the branches and leaves and the surrounding environment, which is helpful to improve the humidity in the air.
