Planting method: Hawthorn is generally propagated by cutting, ramet, grafting and sowing, and cutting propagation can be carried out in spring, and strong branches are selected to cut into 14cm segments and inserted into the soil. Ramet propagation is to dig out the roots and tillers and plant them in the nursery, sowing and propagation can use the sowing method, each interval 3cm about one seed, and then cover with fine sand, can also be covered with straw. Planting time: February-May and September-November of each year are the better periods for Hawthorn planting.

1. Planting time of Hawthorn

The best time for Hawthorn sowing is from February to May and September to November every year. The germination rate of Hawthorn seeds sown at these two times is the highest and the growth is the best.

2. Propagation methods of Hawthorn

Hawthorn does not have high requirements for soil, whether it is hills, mountains or sand wasteland and other places can be successfully cultivated. There are now four methods of raising seedlings: cutting, ramet, grafting and sowing.

1. Sowing and propagation: first of all, the seeds should be treated with sand storage, and then the seeds should be dug out in July of the next year, and then sown with 20cm row spacing. About 300 seeds per meter should be covered with fine sand to avoid the influence of water evaporation on the growth of seeds. Sow seeds by sowing, sowing one seed around each 3cm, so that the seeds are evenly distributed, press the seeds into the soil with small boards, and then cover the shade with straw.

2. Split propagation: dig out the roots and tillers and plant them in the nursery.

3. Cuttage propagation: select strong branches in spring and cut them into segments of about 14 centimeters, insert them into the soil, and sprout in about half a month. When the seedlings are about 60 centimeters high, buds should be grafted.

III. Daily management

Turning deep into the soil to increase the light transmittance of the soil is the most important measure to make Hawthorn grow. Apply base fertilizer to make the tree have enough nutrients.

Generally speaking, the amount of organic fertilizer per mu is about 4kg, urea is about 20kg, calcium superphosphate is 50kg, and plant ash is about 500kg. Only topdressing is needed three times a year, which can greatly improve the rate of fruit.

How to improve the germination rate of seeds

1. Seed selection

Select a good seed this is the most critical step, generally choose to produce in the near future, the seed surface can not be damaged insect bites and other traces, rotten seeds or damaged seeds are not suitable for sowing, otherwise the quality will be very poor.

2. Seed budding and awakening

Before sowing, the seeds need to be soaked for about 10 days in advance, without changing water to clean, and then mixed with wet sand and placed in a cool leeward place for about half a month. During this period, the sand must be kept moist, otherwise it will not sprout.

3. Planting soil

Hawthorn is a sunny plant, which needs enough sunlight and is not strict with the soil, so it is suitable to be planted on the sunny slope.

4. Tending and maintenance

The growth of seeds is more or less the same, just do a good job of daily watering, topdressing, weeding and so on. Hawthorn tree should not apply chemical fertilizer or agricultural fertilizer in the early stage of seedling emergence, so as not to burn the seeds too fertile, but some leaves or plant ash can be used as fertilizer to increase nutrition.
