Grafting method: before sprouting in spring, rootstocks can use peach, plum, plum, peach, apricot and so on. Striping method: select strong branches, peel off a circle of bark at 15-30cm below the top, cut the appropriate size of the film, put wet garden soil on top, and then wrap the girdling area. Sowing method: can sow seeds, but the survival rate is not high. Cutting method: it is better to carry out around December, select robust branches and cut after defoliation.

1. Growth habits of Red Leaf Plum

Red leaf plum Xiguang, shade-tolerant and cold-resistant, strong adaptability, suitable for growing in a warm and humid environment, low soil requirements, moist, neutral, acidic and fertile soil can be planted, shallow roots, strong growth ability.

Second, the planting method of red leaf plum

1. Grafting propagation

The main results are as follows: (1) Red leaf plum is mainly propagated by grafting, which is grafted before sprouting in spring, and the rootstock can use hairy peach, plum, plum, peach, apricot and so on.

(2) after the grafting survives, it must be pruned regularly, cutting off the long branches and the thin and weak short branches that are too dense to form a round crown, which is more beneficial to the growth.

2. Striping propagation

(1) first select the strong branches and peel off the bark from about 15-30 cm below the top. After peeling, the width of the wound is about 1 cm, and the depth is just right to peel off the epidermis.

(2) cut a piece of film with a length of about 10-20 cm and a width of 5-8 cm, place wet garden soil on it, and wrap the part of the ring like a wound. The upper and lower ends of the film need to be tied up and bulged in the middle.

(3) after about 28-42 days, the roots will begin to take root. After rooting, the roots along the edge of the branches will be cut off together to form a new plant.

3. Sowing and reproduction

Red-leaf plums can be sown and reproduce, but the number of reproduction is relatively low.

4. Cuttage propagation

First of all, the healthy and sturdy branches of 1-2 years old are selected and can be propagated by cuttage after defoliation, and the cutting time is generally from the end of November to the middle of December.

Nutritious soil, peat soil and river sand can be selected as cutting substrates. Family cuttings are recommended to use prepared and sterilized cutting substrates, or medium-coarse river sand, which must be washed with clean water several times before use.

Third, cutting technology

1. Nursery: the nursery should be selected in the leeward to the sun, more fertile, better drainage, flat soil.

2. Cuttings: when the plants grow rapidly from late spring to early autumn, choose the sturdy branches of the year as cuttings, first cut the branches, select the sturdy parts, and cut them into a section about 5-15 cm long, but each segment must have more than 3 leaf nodes.

3. Temperature: the suitable temperature for cuttings to take root is 20-30 ℃. Below this temperature, it will grow more slowly. Higher than this temperature, it is easy to cause the upper and lower mouth of the branch to rot, because the higher the temperature, the greater the degree of decay.

4. Light: cutting propagation needs a certain amount of light, because photosynthesis is needed to produce nutrients and rooting substances for root growth. The light should not be too strong, because the higher the temperature in the cuttings, the more exuberant transpiration, and the larger amount of water is needed, which is not conducive to the survival of cuttings.

5. Humidity: the relative humidity of the air must be maintained at 75-85%. The basic requirement for cuttings to take root is to ensure that the cuttings are fresh and tender and can carry out normal photosynthesis before taking root, so as to produce rooting substances. Because the cuttings without roots can not absorb water from the outside world, artificial spraying is needed to reduce the water loss of cuttings.
