Planting time: usually planting in open field from April to May or in greenhouse in March. Select land for sowing: choose sandy soil, turn deep and fertilize, then dig holes and put in the germinated bergamot, cover the soil and water. Fertilization: urea was applied in the growing period, farm manure and foliar fertilizer were applied in the flowering stage, and boron fertilizer was applied in the fruiting period. Watering: the water demand is large, and the soil needs to be kept moist during the growing period. Management: remove the melons that grow too densely or poorly, and set up the frame when growing to 40cm.

What are the varieties of bergamot melon

According to the color, the varieties of bergamot can be divided into two types: White skin and green skin.

1. White skin species bergamot: White skin species have relatively smooth surface and no thorns, high quality, slow growth rate, high fruit rate and wide planting range, such as Sichuan, Guizhou, Xiangjiang, Yunnan and other places.

2. Green skin species bergamot: the quality of green skin species is poor, the taste is slightly light, the growth rate is relatively fast, the fruiting rate is relatively high and the fruit is large, it is more popular in the market, and it is planted in some areas.

2. Planting time of bergamot melon

Bergamot melon is generally planted in the open field in April-May and in the greenhouse around March, and the suitable planting time can be chosen according to the local climate.

Third, the planting method of bergamot melon

1. Select the place

The resistance of bergamot melon is relatively poor, and it is suitable to grow in sandy soil with sufficient light, good drainage and good permeability, so it should be planted in sandy soil with good drainage and irrigation conditions and sufficient sunshine.

2. Sowing seeds

(1) soil preparation and sowing: bergamot melon needs to turn the soil deeply before sowing. In order to improve soil fertility, appropriate amount of farm manure is applied and ploughing is made to mix it evenly with the soil. During deep ploughing, a small ditch can be dug to facilitate drainage and irrigation in the later stage.

(2) sowing method: put the germinated bergamot in the soil hole, then cover a layer of soil, and water it appropriately at the same time.

3. Rational fertilization

It is OK to apply fertilizer three times in the growth process of bergamot melon, urea is mainly applied in the growing period, farm fertilizer and foliar fertilizer are mainly applied in the flowering period, boron fertilizer is applied in the fruit period, and reasonable fertilization must be carried out according to different periods.

4. Moisture

Bergamot melon has a great demand for water in the growing period, especially in the period of high temperature in summer, in order to make the plant grow normally, we must keep the soil moist to avoid the rapid evaporation of water and stop the growth of vine stem.

5. Proper pruning

During the growth period, bergamot is prone to dense fruits, resulting in nutrient imbalance, so melons with relatively dense and poor growth should be removed, which is conducive to promoting the growth and development of melons and fruits, thus increasing the yield.

6. Manage branches and leaves

Bergamot is a kind of vine. When it grows to 40cm, it can be fixed by tripod so that it can climb and grow, so as to reduce the incidence of diseases and insect pests and increase its yield.
