Cantaloupe should be planted in fertile loam or sandy loam, the suitable air humidity is about 50 degrees and the growth temperature is 18-25 ℃. Before planting, the seeds should be soaked and sterilized, and 3000-5000 kg of mature farm manure and 50 kg of compound fertilizer should be applied before planting, and then covered with soil for sowing, thin compound fertilizer can be applied every 7 days. In the growth period to timely ploughing and weeding, and can spray metalaxyl, metalaxyl aluminum copper, Uranus EC and other agents to control diseases and insect pests.

I. growth habits

1. Cantaloupe is suitable to be planted in loam or sandy loam with deep, fertile, rich organic acid and good permeability. Cantaloupe is resistant to drought and not resistant to waterlogging, and the root distribution is shallow.

2. It is suitable to grow in the environment with high soil humidity and low air humidity, the air relative humidity should be controlled at about 50 degrees, the suitable temperature for growth is 18-25 ℃, and the suitable temperature for flowering and fruiting is 22-25 ℃.

2. Seed selection and sowing

1. Suitable varieties can be selected according to local soil, climate and demand. Before sowing, the seeds should be soaked and disinfected before sowing, during which the seeds can be soaked in low concentration carbendazim solution for 10 minutes.

2. Generally, it can be divided into spring sowing and autumn sowing. Spring sowing is from February to March in spring and autumn sowing is from August to November.

3. When sowing, you can choose nutrition bowl and nutrition bag to raise seedlings, or use the method of direct seeding. Generally, most of them choose direct seeding.

4. Sufficient base fertilizer should be applied before sowing. 3000-5000kg mature farm manure and 50kg compound fertilizer can be applied per mu. After ditch application, deep application should be carried out in the pond, and then sowing with soil cover. 2-3 seeds can be sowed in each pond.

III. Seedling stage management

1. Cantaloupe seedlings grow faster after emergence, especially the seedlings cultivated in nutrition bowls and nutrition bags. In order to prevent the seedlings from overgrowing, water and temperature should be strictly controlled during the period. The temperature should be kept at 20-25 ℃ during the day and 10 ℃ at night after emergence.

2. At the same time, the management of fertilizer and water should be strengthened. Thin compound fertilizer and water can be applied every 7 days, which is beneficial to promote the growth of seedlings. In addition, ploughing and weeding should be carried out in time in the seedling stage, which is beneficial to promote root development, because most of the diseases come from the root system. If the root system is underdeveloped, the disease is more serious.

IV. Prevention and control of diseases and insect pests

1. Diseases: common diseases are root rot, powdery mildew and rust. Metalaxyl, aluminum and copper can be sprayed to control root rot, and Bordeaux solution is sprayed to control powdery mildew and rust.

2. Insect pests: common pests are aphids, night moths, armyworm, cotton bollworm, etc., which can be controlled by low-toxic and efficient insecticides, such as imidacloprid, while night moth, armyworm, cotton bollworm and so on. Uranus EC can be used for spray control.
