1. Watering time of corn

1. Watering when sowing

After sowing corn, if the soil water content is relatively high, there is no need to water, and if the soil is relatively dry, it needs watering. Generally, the soil moisture is 65-75% of the field capacity, which can effectively promote the germination of corn seedlings, improve the germination rate, and prevent the occurrence of broken ridges.

2. Watering at jointing stage

After the maize seedlings enter the jointing stage, the plants begin to grow rapidly, and at this time the water demand increases. Generally, the soil moisture is 60-65% of the field capacity. If the soil water content is relatively low, it must be watered. Watering at the jointing stage is particularly important. It will not only affect the growth of maize plants, but also affect the heading and flower bud differentiation of corn.

3. Watering at heading stage

The main results are as follows: (1) after the maize plant enters the heading stage, not only the temperature will be very high, but also the leaf area will be larger, so the heading stage is when the corn needs more water during the whole growth process, and the general soil moisture is 70-80% of the field capacity. At this time, when the soil water content decreases, it should be watered in time.

(2) watering at heading stage can not only increase the photosynthetic products of leaves, but also improve the pollination rate of maize, which lays a foundation for early filling of maize in the later stage.

4. Watering during filling period

After entering the filling period, the water demand of corn is still relatively large, and the general soil moisture is 70-75% of the field capacity. Sufficient water can better make the corn grain filling, thus increasing the yield, so after the corn enters the filling period, if the soil moisture is insufficient, it should be watered as soon as possible.

Second, the watering method of corn

1, there are many ways to water corn, the more common is flood irrigation, which can be watered with water pipes on the ground, which has the advantages of convenience, serious waste, uneven water and too much water on the ground, and on the other side, the closer to the ground, the less water, so it is not recommended to use this method for watering.

2. Sprinkler irrigation and drip irrigation are relatively better. Now the popularity of sprinkler irrigation is not small, which can effectively save water, and the utilization rate is relatively good, while drip irrigation is a more advanced step, directly applying water to maize roots, but the cost is relatively high. So drip irrigation can be chosen if there are conditions.
