Planting time: from November to the end of April, or from June to August. Seed selection and seedling raising: the old Zizania caduciflora was planted in different piers. Soil preparation: select a paddy field or shallow pond as the planting land, then turn the soil deeply and make it loose by rough ploughing. Transplant: transplant the prepared seedlings in November. Field management: fertilizing according to growth and weeding for 2-3 times.

First, planting time

There are many varieties of Zizania latifolia in China, which are generally divided into single-season and double-season Zizania latifolia. In southern China, double-season Zizania latifolia is planted before the end of November-April, or from June to August, but it can only be harvested in autumn, while the single-season Zizania latifolia is cultivated in spring and harvested in August of the lunar calendar.

2. Seed selection and nursery

The main results are as follows: 1. Double-season varieties with late maturity and high yield can be selected, or single-season varieties with early market and high yield can be selected, mainly according to the market situation and local environment. Because Zizania caduciflora is asexual reproduction, so there is no conventional sowing method.

2. The old Zizania caduciflora pier is chosen to be planted separately. Generally, the Zizania caduciflora pier with strong growth, disease-free and male-free plant is selected, and then the muddy root of Zizania latifolia is cut with a knife to make seedlings, more than 1000 per mu.

III. Land preparation

The main results are as follows: 1. Select a paddy field or shallow pond as planting land, turn the soil deeply and make it loose by rough ploughing, and Zizania caduciflora needs a large amount of fertilizer for growth, so it is necessary to apply sufficient base fertilizer to achieve high yield.

2. The base fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer or farm manure, and it is not recommended to apply chemical fertilizer. After fertilization, the soil will be turned deep, the soil and fertilizer will be mixed evenly, then irrigated and raked flat, and then strengthened and raised the ridge of the field. A certain water layer is needed during the growth period of Zizania caduciflora, but the water layer should not exceed 20cm.

IV. Transplanting

The prepared seedlings were transplanted in November, and the suitable row spacing was 0.8-1 m, and the plant spacing was 0.5-0.6 m. The depth should be paid attention to when planting, and the tiller was not flourishing if the planting was too deep. It was usually better to insert the old stem and Zizania caduciflora seedling base into the mud so as not to float.

V. Field management

The main results are as follows: 1. The water demand of Zizania caduciflora is different in each growth stage, the water demand in the early growth stage is small, and the water demand is relatively large in the peak growth season, so it is necessary to ensure sufficient water, while the water demand decreases in the later growth stage. Topdressing depends on growth.

2. When fertilizing, we should pay attention not to apply fertilizer directly under the Zizania latifolia seedlings, but need to be 2-3cm away from the Zizania caduciflora seedlings, so as to avoid burning the seedlings due to excessive fertility.

3. at the same time, weeding should be done in time to improve soil permeability and avoid nutrient consumption. Weeding 2-3 times during the growth period, the main diseases of Zizania caduciflora are leaf blight and rust, and insect pests are leafhoppers and aphids, so attention should be paid to control measures.
