Planting method: column planting is more common. Planting specifications: the row spacing is 1.5 m × 2 m, and 4 seedlings can be planted around each column. Field management: phosphate fertilizer, nitrogen fertilizer and potassium compound fertilizer should be applied evenly for a long time. When the weather is dry, water should be irrigated every 3-4 days. When the dragon fruit branch grows to 1.3-1.4 meters, the heart should be removed. In case of overcast and rainy weather, artificial pollination should be carried out. After fruit harvesting every year, the branches that have borne fruit need to be cut off.

I. planting methods

There are many ways to plant dragon fruit, you can climb the wall to plant, you can also set up a shed to plant, among which column planting is more common, the main advantages are low production cost, high land utilization rate, the so-called column planting, is to stand a cement column or wooden column, plant 3-4 dragon fruit seedlings around the column, and then let the dragon fruit plant grow up along the pillar.

II. Planting specifications

The row spacing of the double-season column is 1.5m × 2m. According to the calculation of planting 4 seedlings around each column, 750plants can be planted per mu. Pitaya can be planted all the year round, and should not be deeply planted. 3cm can be implanted deeply, and the soil needs to be kept moist in the early stage.

III. Field management

1. Apply thin fertilizer frequently

Because the harvest time of fruit is long, organic fertilizer should be applied again every year, phosphate fertilizer, nitrogen fertilizer and potassium compound fertilizer should be applied evenly for a long time, potash fertilizer and magnesium fertilizer should be added during flowering and fruiting stage, which is beneficial to promote fruit sugar accumulation and improve the quality of dragon fruit. during the fruiting period, the soil should be kept moist, the tree plate should be covered with grass or mushroom residue, and when the weather is dry, water should be irrigated once every 3-4 days.

2. Pick the heart

When the dragon fruit branch grows to 1.3-1.4 meters long, it is helpful to promote the branch and let the branch droop naturally.

3. Intercropping and artificial pollination

When planting dragon fruit, it is necessary to plant about 10% white meat type dragon fruit, which is conducive to mutual pollination among varieties and can significantly improve the seed setting rate. If artificial pollination is required in case of overcast and rainy weather, generally pollination can be carried out in the evening, or before the flowers are closed in the early morning, the pollen is directly applied to the female flower stigma with a brush.

4. Pruning branches

After the fruit is harvested every year, it is necessary to cut off the fruiting branches and let the dragon fruit send out new branches again, which is helpful to ensure the yield in the coming year.

5. prevention and control of diseases and insect pests

Pitaya has few diseases and insect pests, and it is easy to be harmed by snails and ants in the seedling stage. Insecticides can be used to control the disease. In the season of high temperature and humidity, it is easy to infect diseases, some branches appear necrosis and mildew spots, and can be controlled by strychnine and strong copper oxide.

Fourth, yield per mu

The dragon fruit begins to blossom and bear fruit 12-14 months after planting, and generally blossoms 12-15 times a year, in which April-November is the fruit-bearing period, and the fruit begins to mature 30-40 days after flowering, with a single fruit weight of 500-1000g. It produces more than 20 fruits per column in the second year after planting, and then enters the full fruit stage in the third year. If properly managed, the yield per mu can be as high as 2500kg.
