Fire dragon fruit is a tropical and subtropical fruit, which likes light and shade, heat and drought, fertilizer and barren. If you grow rapidly in a warm, humid and well-lit environment, how do dragon fruits survive the winter?

1. Cultivate the soil

After fertilization, pond mud, burning soil or other soil miscellaneous fertilizer, or other new soil fertilizer, were applied to the soil around the root of dragon fruit plant, each plant was 15-20 kg, about 8-10 cm thick, in order to thicken the topsoil layer, fertilize the soil, cover the exposed root group, stabilize and increase the soil temperature, and protect the underground root system from low temperature in winter.

2. Fertilization

15-20 days before the advent of winter, overwintering fertilizer is applied, mainly high-quality organic fertilizer and high-efficiency phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Two-year-old trees, retting mature human, livestock and poultry manure, calcium superphosphate and potassium chloride are 50-60 cm away from dragon fruit plants. dig ring ditches of 25-30 cm in depth and width around the dragon fruit plant, stir all the fertilizers thoroughly and mix them evenly, spread them in the ring ditch and cover the soil.

3. Irrigation

After fertilization and soil cultivation, each plant was drenched with 15-20 kg of clear water or biogas slurry or retted to produce rotten human and animal dung water, and fertilized or protected by the first root force with comprehensive nutrients, which was more conducive to root growth and absorption and improve the soil environment. Evenly drenched in the soil around the root of the dragon fruit plant, it is better for the water to completely infiltrate into the soil without outflow. Promote root absorption and utilization, improve the effect of fertilization, and promote the rejuvenation of trees.

4. Cover grass

In winter, cover the soil around the root of dragon fruit plant with rice straw or other weeds, the grass is 5-6 cm thick, in order to reduce water evaporation, prevent water loss, keep the soil moist, ensure water supply, and prevent plant from losing water. It can obviously enhance the cold resistance and winter resistance of the plant.

5. Prevention and control of diseases and pests

In winter, the mixture of 1000 times 0.5% veratrine, 1000 times 4.5% cypermethrin and 800 times 50% methyl thiophanate were drenched evenly in the soil around the roots of dragon fruit plants. It is advisable for water to completely infiltrate into the soil without outflow, so as to kill various underground diseases and insects lurking in the soil and protect the root system.

As the dragon fruit tree is not resistant to cold and dry plants, so winter protection work must be done well.
