Osmanthus tree in the garden construction has a wide range of applications, its beautiful tree shape, elegant flowers, and aroma overflowing, can also be used to make scented tea. Sexual love warm, humid environment, then, osmanthus trees how winter?

1. Potted osmanthus trees

In late autumn (usually after the frost before the beginning of winter) will potted plants can be moved indoors, but also in the sunny balcony, pay attention to ventilation to avoid pests, if into dormancy, pay attention to keep the pot soil slightly moist, so conducive to flowering in the coming year.

After the osmanthus potted plants are moved indoors in late October or early November in the northern region, they should be placed in a place with sufficient light (indoor temperature should be maintained at 3-5 degrees Celsius) and relative humidity maintained between 60% and 80%. Indoor lighting conditions in winter should be slightly better (especially before the early spring buds begin to sprout, more sunshine is needed). Winter indoor temperature should not be too high. Humidity should not be too large, otherwise it will cause osmanthus to germinate in advance indoors, which is not conducive to the growth after leaving the room. In early April of the following year (after Qingming), potted osmanthus flowers can be moved out of the house in time. After leaving the room, first put it in the lee for 1 week, let it gradually adapt to the external environmental conditions, and then disperse it according to needs.

2. Exposed osmanthus trees

Seedlings are more afraid of freezing than adult osmanthus trees. They can build windproof barriers or cover transparent plastic films. Adult osmanthus trees can bind straw and plastic films to the trunk for cold protection.

In the north, the lowest temperature tolerated by osmanthus fragrans planted in the open field is-5℃ to-8℃. If this limit temperature is exceeded, osmanthus fragrans will be frozen to varying degrees. Therefore, when planting osmanthus fragrans in the open field in the north, we should choose a place with sunny leeward, and add artificial winter protection measures to safely overwinter. After the winter solstice every year, artificially tie the trunk with straw rope, or wrap the trunk with other warm materials, which can prevent general freezing damage. Before the soil freezes, combine the cultivation of the root neck, and then wrap the crown of osmanthus flowers with transparent plastic film, pay attention to leaving ventilation holes, so that osmanthus flowers can safely survive the cold winter.

In southern China, there is no need to take too many cold protection measures for osmanthus trees planted in the open in winter, and simple winter maintenance management can be done.
