As a kind of green leafy vegetable, mustard has been widely favored by consumers because of its high nutritional value and good taste. There are many mustard varieties, kohlrabi, oil mustard, mustard mustard and other varieties frequently appear on people's dinner table, grinding powder can be used as seasoning, but also can extract mustard oil. So mustard must be on the list of vegetable farmers. Although mustard is very popular, when is the best time to grow mustard? What are the points for attention?

1. Suitable planting season for mustard

Because mustard is not heat-resistant, cold-resistant and frost-resistant, it is basically distributed in the Yangtze River and Huang-Huai region. Sowing can begin from late July to early August and must be completed by October at the latest. If earlier than this period of time, mustard seeds may not be able to emerge because of drought and lack of water; if later, mustard seeds may suffer from freezing damage due to cold snap.

II. Matters needing attention in weeding, watering and fertilization of mustard

First of all, when sowing mustard seeds, the weeds and rubbish on the land should be cleaned up. Secondly, mustard seed particles are relatively small, deeply affected by water, so it is necessary to do a good job of soil and water moisturizing before emergence. When watering, it should not be watered thoroughly at one time, it is better to use a small amount of water for many times.

After sowing mustard seeds, the emergence time in autumn is about 3 to 4 days, and the spring sowing time is longer, about 7 to 15 days. When mustard sprouts and grows two true leaves, you can start topdressing for the first time. Then the second topdressing is carried out about a week before the mustard harvest, which can basically ensure the nutrition of the mustard. Finally, fertilizer is applied after each mustard harvest, which can prolong the picking time of mustard.

III. Matters needing attention in mustard harvest

It was also mentioned earlier that mustard is harvested in batches. Mustard plants with larger plants should be picked at each harvest, and the smaller ones should be saved for the next harvest. Generally speaking, mustard seeds sown at the beginning of July and the end of August can be harvested for the first time about a month after emergence, and then can be harvested four to five times. Mustard seeds sown in early October take one and a half to two months to be harvested for the first time, and can only be harvested one or two times.

Mustard, as a vegetable with high nutritional value and long harvest time, still has a very important planting value. As long as you master the planting precautions and don't miss the planting time, it's easy to harvest mustard.
