Aloe, also known as Orchidaceae and Cyperaceae, is one of the few edible species in the genus Aloe, and its products are widely used in food, beauty, health care, medicine and other fields. Today, I would like to introduce to you the matters needing attention in the cultivation of aloe.

First, change the basin and soil

Aloe vera grows very fast, so the basin should be changed every spring. Potted soil can be mixed with humus soil, garden soil, river sand and perlite. Use organic fertilizer, such as chicken manure, bone meal and oil dregs as base fertilizer.

Second, topdressing

In the fastest growing season in summer and autumn, topdressing can be done every 15 to 20 days. Generally, 10% to 15% fully fermented decomposed cake fertilizer water or 0.1% urea fertilizer water plus 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate fertilizer water can be used.

Third, lighting

Generally, it is only placed on the balcony or outdoor windowsill in spring and autumn to get direct sunlight and improve the growth rate. In summer, move to a well-ventilated semi-shaded place. In winter, there is plenty of light inside, and the room temperature should not be less than 10 °C.

Fourth, watering

Water aloe properly when raising aloe vera. After the temperature drops, it should be moved to a closed balcony or room, and maintain the appropriate temperature, while paying attention to control the amount of water to avoid freezing damage. Make sure there is plenty of light in autumn and aloe is not cold-resistant.

Aloe has a certain toxicity, pregnant women, infants and young children should not eat. Allergic reactions to aloe include red, swollen and rough skin, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other symptoms in mild cases, and acute glomerulonephritis in severe cases.
