Crape myrtle, also known as itching flower, itchy tree, purple golden flower, purple orchid flower, mosquito flower, is a very widely planted ornamental flower in China, with a long history and a very good ability to adapt to the environment. The flowering period of crape myrtle is very long, and it can also be planted in potted plants, and its leaves, bark, roots and flowers also have certain medicinal value. When will the crape myrtle bloom? What are the main points of planting methods?

When will the crape myrtle bloom?

The flowering season of crape myrtle is in the season of few flowers in summer and autumn, and the flowering period is longer, which can last from June to September. Each inflorescence of crape myrtle can bloom for about 50 days, and the flowering period of the whole plant is as long as 4 months, so it is known as "hundred days of red" and "green in midsummer covers the eyes, this flower is full of red".

Second, what are the key points of planting crape myrtle?

1. Seed collection

The florescence of crape myrtle is from June to September, the florescence is longer, the flowers and fruits coexist, and the results are orderly. From September to November, when the capsule changes from green to brown and individual begins to crack, collect the mature capsule at the base of the inflorescence, remove the pericarp, and store the seeds in a container after drying, the storage location should be ventilated and dry, and the storage time will be until March of the following year.

2. Land preparation to make bed

Crape myrtle has strong adaptability to the environment, drought and cold tolerance, and lax requirements on the soil, but it grows best in deep, fertile and loose soil with slightly acidic and acidic sandy soil. First of all, the soil of the seedbed was hoed, and the sowing ditch was treated according to the specification of wide 20~25cm and depth about 2~3cm.

3. Seed germination treatment.

In order to make the seeds germinate neatly and the germination time is fast, the seeds should be treated by accelerating germination before sowing. First of all, the seeds should be disinfected. The common method is to soak 0.2% potassium permanganate for 1-2 days, and then rinse with clean water many times to remove residual potassium permanganate. After rinsing, soak the seeds in warm water with a temperature of about 45-50 ℃ for 2-3 days. After soaking, remove the seeds and dry them slightly.

4. Watering

Crape myrtle likes to be moist and afraid of waterlogging. Watering should be appropriate. Too much watering will cause stagnant water, which will cause crape myrtle to rot and die. However, if you do not replenish water in time, you will stop growing or die because of lack of water, especially the pot soil during flowering period. When the summer temperature is high, the pot plant evaporates water quickly, so it is appropriate to pour enough water in the evening. If the shallow basin can be watered once in the morning and evening, it can meet the needs of daytime growth. Spring and autumn can be watered every other day. In winter, crape myrtle should keep the basin soil moist, watering once a few days, and when the temperature is high at noon. Crape myrtle bonsai is fond of light and is generally grown under sunny and well-ventilated conditions.

5. Fertilization

Crape myrtle should apply a slightly thicker organic fertilizer as base fertilizer after autumn, but generally speaking, crape myrtle pile should not apply heavy fertilizer to prevent branches from growing too much. When applying crape myrtle, attention should be paid to the combined application of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer. Rotten fertilizer is applied every half a month during the growing period. Nitrogen-based fertilizer should be applied once after each pruning, and 0.3% urea can be added to the fertilizer solution to promote the growth of new buds and branches, and then apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to provide the necessary nutrients for flowering in time. Fertilization should be carried out in the evening and watered the next morning. It is not suitable to apply fertilizer on rainy days and wet soil.

5. Turn the basin

The pot should be turned and the soil should be changed once every 2-3 years. In order for it to blossom every year or four times a year, it is required to turn the pot and change the soil once a year, which should be carried out before germination in spring. After the pile head is removed from the basin, remove the surrounding soil and part of the rotten root, thick root, long root and dense root, plant the plant in the human basin, compacted with the culture soil, and pour enough water. The cultivated soil must be rich in organic matter, good drainage and air permeability and sufficient fertility to ensure that it blossoms and grows luxuriantly.
