Citrus is a very common cash crop, its fruit sweet and sour delicious, loved by the public, so how many years of citrus fruit? Let's take a look at it.

1. Citrus fruit in several years

Citrus trees can blossom in the second year after planting, usually begin to bear fruit in three to five years, reach full fruiting period five years later, and have a long economic life span of 40 Mel and 50 years. However, in recent years, dwarfing and dense planting techniques have been used in various places, which can bear fruit earlier and enter the full fruit period ahead of time, but its economic life is also shortened accordingly.

How to grow oranges?

1. Planting time: citrus is generally planted before spring shoots germinate from late February to mid-March in spring. The areas without frost damage in winter can be planted from October to mid-November in autumn, and the survival rate is also high from the cessation of spring shoot growth in spring and summer to before summer shoot growth in April and May. Container seedlings can be planted in four seasons.

two。 Planting spacing: the most common spacing in citrus cultivation is 4X6 meters, but at present there is a tendency to use different planting methods to make citrus grow densely in the later stage, so the spacing of 4X3 meters and even 4X1.5 meters is often used. The planting density is usually 410 plants per hectare and 800 or even 1600 plants per hectare in the case of close planting. Dig the planting pit according to the specification of 1 × 1 meter. Weeds, garbage fertilizer, mature organic fertilizer, superphosphate and other base fertilizers were applied in the pit. It can be planted in spring or in autumn.

3. Planting soil: the soil is an unconsolidated layer on the land surface consisting of minerals, organic matter, water, air and organisms, which is fertile and capable of growing plants. Citrus grows well in light soil, but it can also grow in heavy loam soil if suitable rootstocks and good drainage conditions are used. The soil with pH more than 8.0 is disadvantageous to the growth of citrus. Oranges are sensitive to soil salinity and boron (even in deep soils), as well as to hardened soils. Citrus roots are mainly distributed in the 0.90 m soil layer and vary according to irrigation conditions. The vast majority of aerobic active roots are distributed in the surface layer of 30 cm. In light soil, the recommended irrigation cycle is 2 times a week, and daily irrigation is better.

4. Fertilizer and water management: oranges need to be irrigated in dry months, so they must be irrigated when the winter is dry and the temperature is above 13 degrees Celsius. In addition, dehydration is dangerous, causing the fruit to flow water to the leaves and causing the fruit to wither. In orchards without full application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before planting, the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer should be increased year by year; one month after young tree planting, new roots begin to move, dilute manure water can be applied, fertilizer amount should be less, not more, especially chemical fertilizer, more attention should be paid to the application of chemical fertilizer, so as to avoid root damage. The quick-acting fertilizer should be applied 1-2 times before and during the growing period of each new shoot, and strive to shoot 3-4 times a year, that is, spring shoot fertilizer should be applied from the end of February to the beginning of March, summer shoot fertilizer should be applied in the middle and late May, early autumn shoot fertilizer should be applied in the early and middle of July, and winter fertilizer should be applied in late November.

The cultivation of citrus is relatively simple, and the economic value of planting is also very high, but we should choose the right variety according to the local actual situation.
