1. Sowing time

It is recommended to plant gourd in the late spring of each year, this time belongs to the peak season of plant growth, planting at this time is more conducive to seed germination, can improve the survival rate of seeds. In addition, the temperature difference between the north and the south is large. The planting is carried out in March to April in the south and in May in the north.

2. Seed treatment

Select high-quality gourd seeds for planting, disinfect the seeds with potassium permanganate solution, and then soak the seeds in warm water at about 40℃ for half an hour. Finally, take out the seeds and wrap them with paper towels, put them in a warm and ventilated environment, and germinate.

3. Indoor germination

Choose a flowerpot of moderate size, first pad the bottom of the pot with sand, then pad a layer of gauze, and then put the seeds on the gauze. Cover the seeds with towels and quilts to keep them warm. The temperature should be controlled at 25-28℃. Every day, remove the quilt and sprinkle some water, but do not have stagnant water. After waiting for the seeds to arch their mouths, they can be taken out and placed in a cool place, waiting for sowing.

4. Preparation of basin soil

Be sure to prepare suitable soil before planting to ensure that seeds have a better growing environment. It is necessary to ensure that the soil has good permeability and sufficient nutrients. It can be mixed with rotting leaf soil, pastoral soil, river sand and a small amount of organic fertilizer to ensure the growth of seeds.

5. Sowing

Sowing usually takes place in April. Poke a hole 3-4 cm deep on the surface of the pot, put the seed into the hole with the mouth facing down, cover it and pour water once. Under normal circumstances, seeds can take root in about a week. After taking root, bury the seeds in the soil, root down and cover with a thin layer of soil. After planting, put it in a semi-shady and ventilated environment, while keeping the soil slightly moist, seeds can germinate in about 10 days.
