Wooden hydrangea and hydrangea are both named because the flowers look like hydrangea, but they are different plants. The following editor will introduce the difference between wooden hydrangea and hydrangea.

I. the difference between wooden hydrangea and hydrangea

Different plants: Hydrangea is a deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub of the genus Ninjuriaceae, up to 4 meters high, while Hydrangea belongs to the flower family, and the plant is shorter, about 1 meter high; the flowers are different: Hydrangea generally blossoms in April-May, with large white flowers shaped like hydrangeas; and Hydrangea flowering in June-August, the flower pattern is plump, large and beautiful, and its flower color can be red and blue.

2. The propagation method of wood hydrangea

Sowing: Wood hydrangea commonly used seed reproduction, seed collection in November, stacked after ripening, the seeds will be washed, with low temperature stratification to the next spring sowing, covering the soil should be slightly thick, and then covered with grass. In June of that year, some sprouted and unearthed, at this time can uncover the grass shade, leave the bed for 2 years to change the bed for planting, 4-5 years for transplanting for garden beautification.

Grafting: Wood hydrangea grafting in early March (before bud germination), take the branches of the mother tree that can blossom, cut off a section about 5 cm long as a scion, leaving the top bud is more ideal, generally using the high grafting method. Place in shade after grafting, wait for the buds of the scion to sprout leaves, and then directly put in the sun, it can blossom in the first year after survival.

III. Propagation techniques of Hydrangea

Ramet: it should be carried out before sprouting in early spring. Separate the rooted branches from the mother plant, pot directly, watering should not be too much, maintain in the semi-shady place, wait for new buds to sprout and then transfer to normal maintenance.

Striping: when the bud germinates, it can grow after 30 days, cut off from the mother plant in the following spring, transplant with soil, and blossom in the same year.

Cuttings: during the rainy season. Cut the top twig, about 20 cm long, remove the lower leaves, cuttage temperature is 13-18 ℃, rooting 15 days after cutting.

Tissue culture: dormant buds were used as explants. After regular disinfection, adventitious buds were cultured on MS medium supplemented with 6-benzylaminoadenine 0.8mg / L and indole acetic acid 2mg / L. When the seedling height was 2-3 cm, it was transferred to 1/2MS medium supplemented with indole acetic acid 2.0mg / L, and grew into complete plantlets.
