Gourd is an annual climbing herb of the family Cucurbitaceae and Cucurbita. It is monoecious and the rattan can be up to 15 meters long. it is very popular in the antique market. So how to plant gourd seeds?

How to plant cucurbit seeds

Before sowing, the cucurbit seeds can be soaked in 30 ℃ water for 8 hours, then wrapped in wet gauze and placed in a sunny place of 25 ℃. Generally, it germinates in about 7-10 days, and when the bud grows to about 2 mm, it is transferred to the nursery or pot. Seed buds down when sowing, then covered with a thin layer of fine soil, then covered with transparent plastic film or glass sheet, heat preservation and moisturizing for about 7 days can break the soil and emerge seedlings.

The sowing time of gourd is generally around Grain Rain. After sowing, when the vine grows to about 1 meter high, the top can be reached from the third to fourth leaves on the root. Because the gourd has the habit of lateral branch fruiting, it can make the early lateral branch at the bottom bear fruit early, and reduce the height of the bracket, which is easy to watch. In general, after the lateral branch bud vine grows, it can bud with 3 or 4 leaves.

II. Maintenance of gourd

1. Light management: it likes good sunlight, but it can also withstand weak light, so it is best to choose to plant in a sunny place. Usually, plants should be exposed to sunlight as much as possible. If the environment is too overcast, it will affect the growth of melon seedlings and fruits.

two。 Water and fertilizer management: combined with topdressing and paving grass, when the main vine grows to about 50cm, apply urea 100ml 250g per plant combined with irrigation. Topdressing should not be too close to the main root to prevent root burning. The period of flowering and fruiting requires a large amount of water, so it is not suitable to give too much water after fruit development.

3. Temperature management: it is a temperature-loving plant. It can grow well at a temperature of 20 ℃-25 ℃. It blossoms more at low temperature, but its fruiting rate is low.

4. Pest management: the main diseases and insect pests of gourd are powdery mildew and aphids. After the occurrence of diseases, ventilation and light transmission conditions should be changed as far as possible, appropriate amount of fertilizer should be applied, and medication should be carried out in serious cases.

With regard to the main planting and maintenance methods of the gourd, we will stop here. We must be more patient in the breeding of the gourd, so as to prevent the death of the gourd caused by carelessness.
