Ask the difference between Bauhinia and Artemisia

Equisetum is a small and medium-sized fern of Equisetum family, distributed in all provinces of China, and Aegilops trifoliata is a whole grass of Equisetum family, which is a kind of farmland weed in China. The appearance of the two is relatively similar, are mostly distributed in wet grassland, ditch farmland, hillside and meadow, so where is the difference between Equisetum and Ardisia trifoliata?

I. Different shapes

Equisetum: rhizomes obliquely ascending, erect and transverse, black-brown, nodes and roots densely yellow-brown hairy or smooth glabrous. The ground branches withered that year. Branches are dimorphic. Fertile branches germinate first in spring, 5- 3-5 cm high, 3-5 mm in diameter in the middle, 2-6 cm in internode length, yellow-brown, without whorled stem branches, ridges not obvious, dense longitudinal grooves, germination after sterile branches, up to 40 cm high, 1.5-3.0 mm in diameter in the middle of main branches, 2-3 cm in internode length, green, many whorled branches, branches below the middle of main branches.

The root is black and brown, with a few yellow roots. Stems erect, solitary or clustered, up to 70 cm, diameter 1~2 mm, gray-green, ribs 6~20, rough, 1 row of verrucose protuberances; stomatal lines in grooves 1~4 rows; branches below middle, often with 2~5 branchlets.

Second, different habits

Equisetum arvensis L.: Born on moist grassland, ditch side, sandy land, cultivated land, hillside and meadow at an altitude of 0-3700 meters.

Arundinaria: Arundinaria mainly grows in wetlands, streams, seashore and paddy fields at an altitude of 100-3300 meters. It is distributed in various places in China and can be seen everywhere.

III. Different heights

There are two kinds of stems on the ground, namely spore stems and vegetative stems. The spore stems are fleshy and unbranched, purple-brown, and the sheaths are long and large. Vegetative stems are born after spore stems wither, 0.6 m tall, with 6 - 15 longitudinal ribs

The stem of a knotweed is divided into two parts: the rhizome and the aboveground stem. Rhizomes black. Ground stems erect, branched at base, no vegetative stems distinguished from spore stems, about one meter tall, stems hollow.

IV. Different medicinal values

Wenjing: The whole herb is used as medicine. It has the effects of protecting liver, lowering blood fat, diuresis and lowering blood pressure. It is often used for vomiting blood, hemoptysis, hematochezia, metrorrhagia, traumatic hemorrhage, strangulation syndrome, red eye membrane, etc.

Jiejie grass: the whole plant is poisonous, but it has the function of dispersing wind and heat, relieving muscle and fever. It can be used to treat condyloma acuminatum and psoriasis.
