Eucommia ulmoides is a rare and endangered second-class protected plant endemic to China, and it is also an excellent ornamental and economic tree species for greening, which can be cultivated artificially. Its cultivation and management is mainly divided into two stages: seed seedling raising and cutting seedling raising. So, how do you plant Eucommia ulmoides tree seeds?

How to plant Eucommia ulmoides tree seeds?

Spring sowing takes place from March to April when the weather is stable above 10 ℃. On the whole seedbed, the seeds of Eucommia ulmoides were sowed evenly into the ditch according to the row spacing of 25~30cm, covered with fine soil of 2cm thickness, and covered with grass to keep moisture and keep warm. The sowing rate per mu is 6~8kg, keep the bed soil moist after sowing, and seedlings can emerge in about 15 days. After cultivation for 1 ~ 2 years, the seedlings can be planted when the seedlings are 80~100cm.

2. Post-planting management of Eucommia ulmoides trees

After the seedlings were planted, the soil was loosened and weeded in time, and fertilized and watered according to the growth of different seedlings.

When the seedlings grow 2-4 leaves, in order to make the distance between each seedling not too close, it is necessary to pull out the excess seedlings and top dressing for the first time, applying urea 22.5~30.0kg per mu, mainly potash fertilizer.

When the seedlings grow 5 to 6 leaves, combined with adjusting the plant distance to get rid of the excess seedlings, fill in rare places, retaining 300000 ~ 450000 plants per mu.

In addition, Eucommia ulmoides is easy to die in the late stage of seedlings. Before sowing, the soil should be sprayed with 0.5% Bordeaux solution once every 10 days, and one month later, 0.1% Bordeaux solution should be sprayed once every 15 days for disinfection, repeated 2 times for 3 times. Pests such as cutworm and Lara Oratosquilla can be killed with poison bait. It also needs to be ploughed and weeded twice a year.

Eucommia ulmoides tree trunk is relatively straight, upright and strong, the crown is compact, very dense, shaded area is large, bark is grayish white or grayish brown, leaves are thick and green, beautiful and coordinated, which provides good resources for greening and street trees.
