There are many varieties of chili, which is one of the indispensable ingredients in many places, especially in Sichuan, Hunan and other places. Chili peppers are planted in many places in our country, but the requirements for the planting environment are not very high, and generally can survive. The cultivation methods of chili peppers are planted in open fields and in greenhouses. Recently, a friend asked, can you grow chili peppers on the balcony? Why is there no result?

Can I grow chili peppers on the balcony?

The balcony can grow chili peppers, as long as you master the correct planting methods and maintenance points, you can generally survive.

1. Choose and buy chili seeds

If you grow chili peppers on the balcony, it depends on what kind of pepper you grow, whether it is Chaotian pepper or ordinary chili pepper. After buying the seeds, you can sow them.

The pepper seeds should be soaked in advance to accelerate germination before sowing to improve the germination rate.

If the temperature is relatively low to sow, put the pepper seeds in the flowerpot and cover with a thin layer of soil, pour enough water to fix the roots, and put on a plastic bag or plastic film to keep warm. Remember, be sure to make a small cut to help you breathe, and wait until it germinates before lifting the cling film or removing the film.

2. Base fertilizer

Growing chili peppers in flowerpots is very different from growing chili peppers in open fields, because the area of flowerpots is small, and it is necessary to apply sufficient base fertilizer to meet their growth needs. We can choose mature peanut cake and rotten chicken manure as base fertilizer to bury it at the bottom of the flowerpot to promote its growth.

Choose a pot with a diameter of more than 20 centimeters and plant at most one or two pepper seedlings in a pot.

3. Soil requirements

The soil that grows chili peppers is like ordinary vegetable garden soil, of course, the soil with good looseness, strong drainage and good water retention capacity can produce higher yield.

4. Transplanting

When the pepper seedlings grow out of four or five true leaves, you can transplant. It is best to bring soil when transplanting, do not hurt the root system.

5. Pick the heart

When the pepper seedlings grow to more than ten centimeters, you can pinch off the growth point at the top and promote the sprouting of lateral branches, so that the yield of pepper will be higher.

Second, why does the balcony pepper have no result?

1. Lack of light

Growing chili peppers on the balcony needs plenty of light, otherwise, not seeing the sun may make the branches grow, and the nutrition in the fruiting period is not enough, so it will not bear fruit. To put the pepper in a position where there is plenty of light, in addition to giving it a little shade when the temperature is relatively high at noon, let the sun shine fully for at least three hours a day, so that it can grow stronger and have more results.

2. No heart pick

In the management of balcony pepper, there is no timely heart to hit the top, it is difficult to grow more branches, it is difficult to produce a large number of fruit.

3. Insufficient fertilizer

There is no sufficient base fertilizer in the basin, which leads to the phenomenon of insufficient growth nutrients and the phenomenon of no result.
